I just joined and wanted to share that I really have trouble when I need to meet people that I don’t know, because I am anxious. I also worry quite a bit. I don’t like feeling anxious all the time but I can’t seem to control it. It is discouraging.

Have you talked to your doctor about these problems?

Yes I have been on meds for years and had therapy but the anxiety always comes back.

Are you having therapy at this time?

Yes. It is just discouraging because my anxiety is so strong and I feel it limits me in many ways.

Have you told your therapist the same things that you mentioned here?

Not the current therapist. Have been working on seemingly intractable relationship issues. Other therapists have known about my anxiety. She knows I am anxious too.

I'm asking all this because the best way to do something about this is to work with your therapist on it. You're welcome to post here anytime, and we can give you moral support, but we can't do much else over the Internet. My point is that you really need to tell your therapist everything that's bothering you.

Well I will. I just needed a little support because I am discouraged at having a condition that never goes away.

Anxiety is always terrible, but it can be controlled so that you can have a normal life. Social anxiety is very common also - just check some of the other posts on this forum.

It's when you start becoming afraid of the fear itself, that things really start to get tough.

That is exactly my problem. I am afraid of the fear and the pain associated with it.

That's when you start avoiding certain situations and places for fear of another anxiety attack. Your world gets smaller and smaller. Don't let anxiety have the upper hand! Tell your therapist what's bugging you, no matter how uncomfortable it may be to do it. You've got to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks. I appreciate your advice. I will do that. I had better get some sleep. I will post again later most likely.

I agree! The doctors and therapist are the ones with the tools. Turn to them as fast as you can before the fear eats you up. And be here on this site! Open up, write posts about yourself. Breaking through does plenty of work! When you allow yourself to talk about the most secret issues, you also unpack the secret and become able to make it public more and more.

I’m a newbie to this group but I see how it helps to talk with other, to tell my store, to listen to others, to encourage and support and being supported but also heard!

I keep my fingers crossed for you! All the luck!

Thanks!

Hi Rt12 and Welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here! You’ve got some great advice going on here on this post! Are you able to write down all of your fears? Are you trying to not think about the past or the future? Thinking about what “might” happen causes a lot of anxiety. Worrying about things that haven’t happened yet is completely anxiety-producing! Please try to keep your thoughts out of the future and negative thoughts from the past. I hope, with your therapist, you can begin working on your anxiety. Wishing the best for you!
