Want to say hi. I'm 45 and I struggle with social and general anxiety. Just recently went off of klonopin which I was on for 10 years. It was extremely hard getting off of klonopin but I did it and lived through it.
Thank you,
Angel

I'm new here too, but welcome!
Today is my first day on Klonopin, previously had been taking Ativan as a rescue medication and/or bridge when my long-acting medications weren't enough. If you don't mind me asking, why did you decide to get off of it? I know long term use of Benzos in general can be a bad thing, and the plan for me is to taper off the Klonopin after my new long-acting medication (Viibryd) builds up in my system.
Good for you Angel0713. I'm proud of you, I know how difficult that was because I went through it myself several years ago. Would like to welcome you to the support forum and to let you know you are never alone in any issues you want to share. You have found a safe place to come. Looking forward to you sharing your life's journey. xx
Thank you. It's been very rough since stopping the klonopin. Now I'm on Zoloft, gabapentin and elavil. 16 weeks on Zoloft with only a little help. I can't get motivated to do anything and have gained so much weight. I feel and look terrible.
Angel, whether it's stopping medication or switching over to other meds, it's a difficult process for sure. 16 weeks is more than a good length of time to have tried Zoloft. If you are unhappy in getting little results and have side effects that are bringing you down, it's best you talk it over with your doctor/therapist. The meds are really about trial and error until the right med, the right dose is found for each individual patient. I hope that you will start seeing positive effects of the med combo soon. Keep us updated please. We care. xx
Hello and welcome..
Chat away to us all, you can make some good friends on here.
Nice to meet you.
Way to go. That is quite the accomplishment. Welcome!
It was extremely hard getting off of klonopin but I did it. Just wish I didn't shake all over all the time. I feel like a freak.
That happened to me to! I didn’t know how hard it was to get off of, and my dr had giving it to me when my brother died, so I was just taking one a day, and when they ran out I just stopped taking them. Omg, I cried for three days straight! Good job getting off. I’ll never take it again.
How did they make you feel when you took them?
And what did it feel like coming off of them?
I felt kind of numb when I was on it, and it did help me get through the things I was going through, but I couldn’t figure it what was wrong with me when I went of off them. I wasn’t even upset, but my brain would stop making me feel like I was. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever experienced.
So what do you do now, are you on other meds?
I’m on lexapro and abilify
I take it they are better?
I never took meds for it when I was bad with it, so I have always wondered how the meds make people feel and how do they feel when they stop using them.
Meds help, but the “game” of finding the right ones is torture.
They only put a cloak on it all?
Some do, some don’t work at all, some work great but only combined with another. It’s a game. I’m no expert, lol. I’m 38 and still haven’t figured it out.
You would need a degree by the sounds of it lol
Exactly
Good for you
Are you still off of the Klonipin? How are you doing? I was off Klonipin for 5months after being on it for 10 years and I was in really bad shape and had to go back on the Klonipin. I would like to stop this med but can't seem to function without it. I hope you respond and let me know how you're doing.
