I am new here and suffer from depression. Lately I have be suffering from this pressure in my head, it isn't a headache, and it isn't painful. It's like a dark cloud that will not go away. It doesn't happen all the time, mostly when something is going wrong like at work for example. I can feel it coming on and it's a scary feeling that I just cant seem to shake, It's feels like the only way to get rid of it is to hit it out of my head. So my question is, has anyone every experienced anything like this before? Is there hope that it will get better?

I understand this pain 100%! I get this a lot when I am overwhelmed with the thoughts in my head. Try and relieve stress. Do something that relaxes you when you can. It could either be a stress pain, or in my case an overwhelmed pain. It does get better once you notice what the reason is behind the pain.

I was just in the ER for this yesterday. They told me it’s a complex migraine most likely brought on by stress. Mine was also accompanied by weakness on one side of my body.

Hi,

I think I might experience something similar. It’s not painful or even a feeling I can really describe properly. Something feels off inside my head. A pressure or a tightness inside my head which actually gets worse with every thought, especially stressful thoughts or when I have to do something. It almost feels like it’s a sensation in my brain although it’s probably not. And it seems to be connected to really depressing negative emotions and a feeling of dread and claustrophobia. Nothing can feel right within me when I have this sensation.

I only experienced it once, when my husband died of Cancer.

Earlier in the day, I had left a message for my Dr that my husband had died.

When he called me back that night he asked if there was anything he could do and, naturally, I thought anything medically for me so I told him about the pressure in my head and asked if I should make an appointment. He said, "No, it is most likely due to the stress of what you are going through right now".

I have other physical symptoms of stress, especially irritable bowel syndrome.

But, if you haven't seen your Dr about it, please do. If it IS from stress, at least that will ease your mind a bit.

Anxiety medication or an anti-depressant may help.

After 7 months of constant IBS symptoms, with all my Dr's insisting it was due to stress and I tried meditation and other natural ways to ease it, my Psychiatrist put me on a mood stabilizer, Abilify, and within just a few days my symptoms were gone!

Good luck and keep us updated,

Hugs,

MJ
