hi! I used to think I would have a seizure or pass out when having a panic attack. Doctor assured me this would not happen and he was right. Phobias can really play mind games with us.

But a constant feeling that you are truly going to fall over pass out … this would send me to the doctor in a hurry. Have you tried getting some extra rest? I hope you can feel better and relax a bit. 🙏

ah that’s reliving I felt really silly saying it’s been happening continuously for 3 months now I keep getting the fear that the sensations I feel are gonna cause me to develop pnes and it didn’t help with my friends saying I could from stress. I can’t sleep very well at night however when I do get to sleep I sleep for ages I keep having constant pains and aches it’s really hard to believe it’s Just anxiety however I’ve had multiple ambulances and they’ve said everything was fine it’s really scary I drink plenty of water

in reply to Ellicis

yea I know how scary it can be. I took many trips to ER and docs before I had to surrender to taking medication to relax and stop the panic. This was extremely helpful for me at your age. Logically, I believe anxiety is telling us that something in our life is not jiving with our true self. Finding out what that is, and fixing that first, could save you from a lifetime of suffering. I realize that’s a tall order but if I could go back in time, I would have looked harder at what was causing my anxieties and perhaps not been so quick to jump on the medication bandwagon. Just something to thing about. Please try not to worry too much about it all. Do what you enjoy and try some meditation and other mindfulness techniques.

I got perscribed propananol I think that’s how you spell it and I’m soo nervous to take it I don’t wannna feel worse

in reply to Ellicis

I’ve taken it b4. It calmed my body and helped me relax. Don’t be scared to try it. It’s a relatively mild medication, prescribed very often for ppl who have trouble with public speaking. It’s not addicting either. It’s a great choice for you to try. Don’t be scared.

That's a blood pressure medication. I take it, it basically prevents your body from having panic attacks without the mind-numbing effects of benzos like xanax. It can really help......

When we fear something it adds to the anxiety which gives u more anxiety u won't have a seizure or anything else this is why we are all in the anxiety cycle u get anxiety then we feel ready bad symptoms then we worry about them then it keeps our nerves stressed it's hard I know but the only way out is to not worry about the symptoms. It's like if someone broke into your house would u would get symptoms of fear would u be worrying about your symptoms or the intruder.

I never thought of it that, way do you have any tips on how to overcome/maintain it

in reply to Ellicis

I agree with moggie8. Panic/fear is the classic “Fight or Flight” response. If you come upon a bear in the woods, that response activates all your adrenaline to help you survive. But, that same response happens in times of panic and fear that don’t warrant that response. It creates the same feelings in your mind and body when no real threat exists. Distractions help me. Music, animals, surrounding myself with calming ppl. Deep breathing helps too!

why do I feel it all the time , is it normal to feel like a heavy head and hearing weird like you’re really hot too

in reply to Ellicis

When I hear you say heavy head, hearing weird, and hot, I think of the flu, sinus infection, ear infection etc. Do you have a fever?

I’m shaking and muscles hurt my chest is funny I’m sweating and I feel sick

The more. I ignore it and try focus on something else. My head will feel like it’s dropping and heavy

in reply to Ellicis

Do you have a thermometer to check your temperature? If you really feel ill and it’s getting worse you should probably go to an urgent care. Anxiety could be the cause but if you really feel ill I wouldn’t hesitate to go get checked out. At least it could put your mind at ease. Did you try the Propananol? If I remember correctly, it starts to work within 30-45 minutes to start calming the body down.

I’m tryna bring myself to take one it’s 40mg and haven’t got a Thermometer but my boyfriend felt my head and said I haven’t

My face has. Gone all red

in reply to Ellicis

Since the Propananol was prescribed to you I really think you need to take it. Anxiety can manifest in our body with a wide variety of symptoms. Take one, try to relax for about an hour and see if you start feeling better. At the very least, it should help your body relax and hopefully get some rest so that you can sort of “reset.” Try to remain calm. I used to breathe in a paper bag which also helps with hyperventilation from panic. Don’t overthink taking the medication. Your doc gave it to you for this very reason. You got this! 👍

ye I think I’m just worried. About side affects that’s all and. I’m not sure what a beta blocker is I think it’s cuz it was over The phone instead of in person like I wanted , does. It slow your heartbeat a lot xx

in reply to Ellicis

Yes it will bring your heart rate down to a normal rate. Here is a brief summary of what it does:

“When you are anxious, your brain makes chemical messengers called adrenaline and noradrenaline. These make your heart rate faster and make you sweat or shake. Propranolol helps block the effects of these chemical messengers. This reduces the physical signs of anxiety.”

Sounds like your doc picked a good match for your symptoms. Sometimes it takes a couple of days to get the full effects however I remember feeling immediate relief after just one dose.

I went to take one and held it on my tounge for too long and. Now my tongues numb and I felt like I was Gonna pass out currently hating myself.

in reply to Ellicis

You have to swallow it whole and quickly. Try it with juice or something other than water if that might help. Maybe do it now while your tongue is numb, lol.

Ellicis, propranolol does lower the heart rate.

And that's okay as long as you feel okay.

After a couple days you can let your doctor know how you

are doing. He will decide then if he needs to adjust the dosage. '

Try not focusing on the medication because you only end up

fighting the calming effect. :) xx

Just let it be there and go about your day that's telling your brain there's no danger and slowly over a few mths u will see it starts to go but when we try to get rid of it's saying we are in danger hope that helps live like you don't have anxiety I know it's hard but I've seen results slowly look up shaan kaasam utube he explains when we fight it it makes it worse anxiety tries to trick us in thinking something bad will happen and we keep buying into it that's the hardest part whenever u see yourself obsessing catch it and stop it I'm just going to get on with what I'm doing and let these feelings be there for how long they wany

Have you tried any breathing techniques to go w the propranolol? The propranolol will help, but so will breathing techniques. I use them both. I use the 4-square technique. I breathe in for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4, breathe out for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4, repeat until you feel better, you'll know when that is. Also, practicing meditation daily will, over time, teach your mind to not be so over-amped. I like doing energy work like Qigong which incorporates meditation w simple exercises to get that excess energy out so it's not in you. I like Chris Shelton's 30 day qigong challenge on YouTube. Or, you can do one of the millions of meditations on YouTube, just find something you like and stick w it for a week, see how you feel. It takes practice to retrain your mind, just like getting your body in shape.... Hang in there.... You got this.....
