Tips For Panic Attacks/Anxiety

Hi peeps. I know you are probably going to get a good laugh outa this, but I used to have panic attacks real bad. I used to wake up in the middle of the night, thinking my face looked different and weird, seeing rashes all over my body, and thinking my tongue was swelling and so Id go wake up my mom (who I lived with) and her husband in the middle of the night, with my tongue lolling out and saying blah blah my tongue is swelling. Saying this with my tongue hanging out looking and sounding like a total retard. I also used to wake up with a start and an impending feeling of doom like I was gonna die. I had to go to the ER in the middle of the night to get tranq'd. I guess this made sense kind of because my whole life I have been very ill and suffered from many life-threatening illnesses. (I am much better now, taking vitamins and keeping my immune system strong)

Here are some tips I learned:

1. Stay WARM. Put on fuzzy socks, a robe, take a bath or hot shower. COLD induces panic and makes it worse.

2. Take care if you are on antibiotics. They kill nerves and can make you flip out, and really mess with your head, especially the stronger ones like Avalox.

3. Yogi Kava Stress Relief Tea. Work wonders. (Walmart tea section)

4. Arizona RX Stress Tea (drink cold or room temp) , (2 different flavors) I do not like the orange one.

5. Realize that 99% of your fears never come true. YOU ARE NOT DYING! (Rare exception if you have been diagnosed with something terminal.)

6. ONLY worry about things you CAN control and do NOT worry about what you CANNOT control. The problem here is that people cannot differentiate between the two; Make a chart and list two columns. "What I CAN Control" and "What I Cannot Control." All we can do in life is our BEST. Realize that your BEST is GOOD ENOUGH.

7. Look. We are ALL in this LIFE together. Sure, it is a scary world and anything can happen. But it's highly unlikely that anything serious will happen to you in particular.

8. Keep a contact list of support systems. If you have no one, Call 211 Crisis Line (if in US)

9. Try the NEW Vicks ZZzzz's VaboRub-Aromatherapy for sleep and anxiety.

10. Try Somnapure for sleep if feeling anxious (Walmart vitamin section or ebay, Amazon)

11. COACH yourself THROUGH the attack. What is happening to you is just chemicals running rampant through your body and bad thoughts, They cannot hurt you. Heart pounding? It's just the chemicals, NO, you are NOT having a stroke or heart attack (most likely not, with very RARE exceptions) Mind racing? Chemicals. Breathe, Count. See how many red things you can spot in the room.

12. Have some comfort food (pasta, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, etc. Drink some sweet tea, it has a de-stressing quality. Keep your BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS STABLE to avoid anxiety. Small snacks throughout the day.

13. Watch a movie or tv or read a book. Look up jokes on the internet, or read other people's anxiety stories online. No $$ for entertainment? Netflix, Amazon Prime, Amazon Audible (Audiobooks) Amazon Kindle (some books are free too) and Hulu ALL have FREE Trials! You may need a debit/credit card at first (no charge) but just make SURE to write down the date you started the trial and then cancel before the 30 day (or whatever) ends. (Cancel the day BEFORE payment is due) Also checkout out VUDU, you can watch lots of movies absolutely FREE if you agree to watch the ads as well.

14. Get on an online chat room for anxiety/panic.

15. Get a Sun Lamp (natural sunlight) and read by it. I have a Verilux I got from Barnes and Noble. My cat loves it! LOL

16. Get on YouTube and listen to/watch "Hero" by Mariah Carey, "Happy" by Pharrell Williams and "Invincible" and "Catch My Breath" by Kelly Clarkson. Uplifting songs!

Hope these tips help! I am now free of panic attack for 6 years now, having coached myself through them. If I can do it, so can you! Good luck!

Great info🤩

My tea of choice is lavender with chamomile and cinnamon.

I can't swim but love floating in the pool whenever I get the opportunity.

I am going to check out one of Dr Wayne Dryer books. I have been listening to encouraging words from you tube by him.
