How long have you been taking them? It sometimes takes about three weeks to kick in bit varies on the person and medication.

I have been taking the medicine for about 6 months but I keep having the dosage upped and it’s not helping anymore

If you don't mind me asking, what medication are you taking?

Sertraline generic for something I can’t remember at the moment

Generic for Zoloft. I took that a long time ago. I think I have tried every antidepressant out there. It probably worked at one time and then I got immune to it. I'm on Lexapro now and it is not working for me now.

I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to say anything about what you should do regarding them.

Exercise and spirituality help me but it takes a lot to get me started exercising. Getting out with people also helps, even if it is just going out to a convenience store and talking to someone there. Making small goals each day also helps me to get through it day by day.

You have been on your meds long enough to know they are not working...your not getting better with them so for sure see your doctor and or get another opinion if they don't help you with this. It's terrible you have been suffering to this extent for so long, you should not have to.

I am on sertraline and find it good but we are all different. If the meds don't work for you then go back to your doctor and have a chat. How long have you been on your current dose? x

I take lexapro now....was on quite a few before this....everyone is different and react differently to various SSRI's. You may be one of approx. one third of society that SSRI's don't work on, that's an issue you may want to bring up to your doctor too. There are medication free alternatives that some here also do to help with their symptoms.

Not what you're looking for?
