Driving Anxiety
Hi👋 I'm sorry i actually don't but i have the same feelings and anxiety as you do about driving. So your not alone. I'm 20 and don't even have my liscense yet. It's depressing. I plan on saving up money seriously for driving lessons but i don't know how it's gonna go. Hopefully by then i will be on anti anxiety medication. You can actually message me anytime about this or anything else. I can 1,000% relate. I hope others respond to help you and me as well!!!!!!
Stay strong and don't give up!😄🙏
I feel like when I'm in control and driving my anxiety is less but when I am trusting someone else with my life as a passenger that's when I have the anxiety attacks. My heart starts racing while I think of every possible bad thing that can happen. It is exhausting. By the time we get to where we are going I'm already worn out from the drive over. I've tried to only allow people to drive me that I truly trust as safe drivers but I hate to stress other people with my warnings about my anxiety.
Boy I have the same thing, only in winter though. If you find any tips I'd love to know! I wish you all the best with peace & joy!!!!!! Take care! XXX
I used to have that too. I found a way to ease some of my anxiety with it. I would just drive around aimlessly. First during a time when people weren’t really out. I’d get familiar with the roads and their lanes. I was always nervous if I was in the right lane. Then I would take the exact route I needed during a time I needed. If I had an appointment at 4 on Tuesday, Sunday and Monday I would take my route. It’s less pressure and you know exactly what you’re up against. It takes planning but it helped me exponentially. Drive the roads you’re most nervous about during less busy times. Then move up at your own pace.
I make myself drive unless I am absolutely in a huge huge panic. I always feel good afterward. I recall times I drove successfully on the highways even (which I haven’t done in some time) I drive on familiar roads and when they are less busy. I have s fear of backing up and parking too but I’m not bad at it really but I feel pressured. I cannot/ will not drive to certain places because they are too far like a cat out of their territory. Oh, sometimes having the radio on helps to have something distracting my scary thinking.
Wow I was literally about to post this question! I thought I was the only one and have been freaking out all week because I can't find the strength to get in that car. I feel comforted knowing others can relate now though and hope you do too ❤️
I been going through it for years off and on im on medication, i go to therapy sometimes and i recently started back walking and exercising to help with it. I do okay must of the time i have my short cuts i drive were i feel safe driving and if its to far i ask a relative are friend to help me .
