What if...?

Someone asked what to do to prepare for their first day at their new job. Since their first day was yesterday, I will post here instead of on their thread.

I had to have a really tough meeting with my boss one day, so my counselor advised me to make a list of all the ‘what ifs’ I had beforehand. And then write down what I would do if that thing happened

What if she tries to start discussing things before the actual meeting starts?

I will let her know that I will gladly discuss things once everyone is present and the meeting has begun.

What if she starts accusing me of things I didn’t do?

I will take a deep breath and calmly explain that what she is saying is false.

What if she fires me?

I will tell her that I’m sorry she feels that is what must be done and thank her for the years I got to spend with her family.

Doing this REALLY helped me feel like I was a mature, capable, and intelligent person despite the way she made me feel. I was prepared for anything she threw my way.

Hope this helps someone. 😊
