I guess it depends? I just dont know with the physical condition because as we all know alcohol isn’t good for the health. Having anxiety makes you think and think of the things that stressing you out. Drinking alcohol alone can be bad as you may think more about your problems, but can be good as you try to release your thoughts. It is also the same when you’re with friends or fam, you may forget things for awhile and enjoy that moment. It’ll be good for you, at least you won’t think much and possibly you won’t find it difficult to sleep after the drinking session compare when you didn’t drink alcohol. Hope it helps.

Alcohol is a depressant so it will tend to be bad for people with anxiety.

Hi Pedro61885, Having a social drink or two may help by relaxing you for the time being. Depending in how often you drink, you can build up a tolerance to alcohol where the sedative effect no longer takes place or requires more and more to get the same effect. Alcohol dehydrates the body which causes more symptoms to appear involving the heart. If someone is on medication for anxiety, it can be very serious in mixing alcohol while on drugs.

So really it is a individual choice depending on different issues going on. Stay Safe with your choice. :)

I have anxiety and I drink, I believe if you don't think it's a problem then drink. I don't get drunk ever anymore it's just having a few cold ones enjoying the leafs play hockey.

Just be careful. If you're on meds, the alcohol might hit you harder than you'd expect. So keep it light. And whatever you do don't drive.

Wow I am sorry to hear that. It's good that you have identified that trigger for you.

I know that one drink a day for women is ok. A beer or a glass of red wine has many health bennifits. Beer with hops is very relaxting. My only caution would be that alcohol is addictive. And if you have an adictive personality it can become a problem for you. I don't have a drink every day. But I do have a drink 4 or 5 times during a week. My HDL levels are great.

Alcohol is extremely bad for anxiety -- it is a depressant, and although you might feel happy for a small while while buzzed or drunk -- you'll pay dearly the next day with depression and anxiety. I no longer drink at all -- gave it up completely since after even just one drink, I would be so sad and in such a dark depression the entire next day. Alcohol is a poison, bottom line. That's why it's called being inTOXICated. Your body is processing the poison, and that's what causes the "drunk" feeling - but that poison depletes your body and brain from many nutrients and chemicals and has very strong psychological effects. It's one of the worst things you can do for depression/anxiety.

a couple of drinks and thins are good but too much is terrible for depression/anxiety.

I have had anxiety for over 10 years, never mix any meds with alcohol bad combination....I have been sober for five years I tried alcohol but for me the hours between coming home and 5am were the worst not a good situation, alcohol can trigger anxiety so there you are having anxiety knowing you have alcohol in your system and the only thing you can do is try to make it thru the night because you cannot take your medicine at this point...not a good situation to be in..
