Should I Increase My Dose of Citalopram? Why Won't My Therapist Listen to Me?

I'm not entirely sure what to do with myself. My therapist won't recommend a higher dosage even though I've expressed to her that my anxiety doesn't seem to have calmed to the level that I want it too. In the first few months, it did make a major change but I still feel the impact of anxiety every which way I turn. Relaxation isn't exactly an option for me.

I know you say relaxation isn’t an option for you but I think that everyone needs to relax. That’s how your body heals. Especially if one is anxious throughout the day, that’s a stress being put on the body. Sleeping at night shouldn’t be the only time the body is allowed to relax and heal from the stress of the day. Just take a few minutes to relax out of the day. There’s an app called headspace. I love it!! Just ten minutes every day is a great start to help reduce anxiety. Plus relaxation can be in the form of many things. I can’t take naps during the day (well

maybe I could if I tried haha) but I can relax by journaling, reading, taking a bath, taking a nice stroll in the neighborhood or walking at the gym, art, cooking, being out in nature, etc etc. You deserve moments throughout the day the make you go,” Ah!”

I agree with KaringKrystal. Relaxing (meditation, yoga, Tai Chi), healthy food, therapy and time helped me get through a Very difficult time in my life. By far, meditation was the best thing I could do for myself. My heart rate decreases, my blood pressure decreases and my distressing thoughts are looked at more objectively. Meditation works! As a person with anxiety I have a difficult time relaxing. I am hyper-vigilant; however, meditation helps me not react to every imagined or real perception I have. I encourage you to open your mind and heart to relaxing. Maybe you can start with guided imagery with your therapist? -May you have Blessings, Peace and Love 💓💓💓💓
