I tried Reiki for the first time yesterday. I'd been really struggling with my depression and anxiety and my dad suggested Reiki. I don't have any experience of it, so I went in with zero expectations. It was remarkably helpful and I slept well for the first time in months. I definitely think I will try it again, and I am so grateful to have found something that gives me some relief.

I made an appt to try reiki also. I’m willing to try anything that may help. I’m glad you had a positive experience.

I hope it is useful for you! My practitioner was able to give me advice on some vitamins and things that might also help. Good Luck :)

I also suffer from general anxiety and depression, I’ve been looking into reiki lately, what does it do exactly can it get rid of anxiaty for good ??? And what do they do during the reiki session

Hey Roxx, so, the practitioner i visited warned me the effects last for about 5 days before you need another session. She says that it's a bit like physiotherapy and you need a course of sessions. I live really far from her - so i have only had one to date. For me it was the most helpful thing i have tried so far, but then, i know people who feel that medication has saved their life, so it's probably very individual.

They will describe it as moving 'chi' around - and just put their hands over you - to be honest, i thought it was a bit strange at first and just tried it because i was desperate, but i'm going back for another session next week. :)

It's an alternative therapy from Japan, a bit like acupuncture i guess, but less tactile.

My medication was having some unwanted side effects - so trying it was a pure act of desperation, but it was really helpful to me. Just wish the effects lasted a little longer.
