It's because when our brains are anxious and depressed it's easier for them to stay in the negative and remain anxious. To think about positive things our brains would have to work, and they don't want to work like that right now! Try starting with a list of positive affirmations, and just read the list each day and pick one to repeat in your head for that day. After a while those affirmations will pop into your head when you need them, or at least they will be easier to remember when you need them!

Hi Rachel! I tend to turn to YouTube for so many inspirational videos and talks. It is hard to positive self talk when our mind is in a state of negativity or chaos. I find by listening to calming voices of others, they are able to program those positive thoughts within me while I sit back and relax.

Any of the audio videos by Jason Stephensen are excellent. Ridding yourself of negative thoughts, affirmations and positive re-reinforcement, many to choose from.

There are videos called "I Am" The belief behind that is using the words "I am" before your thoughts will make you or break you. Saying "I am" followed by an Affirmation can change the outcome of your thoughts.

Wishing you calm xx

I haven't watched any of the videos you suggested because the only 'net access I have is cellular data and I have to really watch how much I use, but the use of "I am" statements is very well stated in your post.

I need no further explanation to put this into practical application at once. I don't need any authentication in order to know beyond any shadow of doubt that this will have a positive effect. Thank you for this. It's a real keeper!

I'm glad to hear that old-soul. It's so easy to catch ourselves in repeating negative sayings that when something as simple as positive words after "I am" works in turning it around, why not. It doesn't cost anything and is within our power. Good Luck. I know you can do it. xx

Oh, I spent time doing it as I drifted off to sleep last night and I have no hesitation in saying that this one simple technique in and of itself has really boosted my outlook. This is very good stuff and I can't thank you enough for taki g the time to share it with us. I hope mz_rachel (the original poster, aka OP) finds it as useful as I am. Now just to NOT FORGET to make use of it!
