I am very gassy, tummy rumbling and have had to start using meta-musal ( fiber supplement) Does that sound like IBS? It started when I was far beyond stressed
Alaskamom68, IBS/Nervous Colon whatever the diagnosis is, it is triggered by your life situation. Metamucil can help. More than that is getting your life back in control. We do not always get what we bargained for. Sometimes life gets in the way, things happen and our life becomes chaotic. This is when we need to find ways to accept this is what it might be for a while. Since we cannot control things outside our realm, we need to control how we react to the situation. That in itself can help you immensely in calming your mind and your body.
You may benefit by talking this out with a therapist. When things get so overwhelming that we feel we're at the edge, a good therapist can help put you back on the right path as well as the forum being here to support and understand what you are going through. You will get through this bump/boulder on your journey through life. xx
I live off the grid in Alaska ... can't go to town very offend that's why I was asking if those symptoms sounded like IBS and what helps on here.
You have received very thorough and supportive replies from Agora1 and others. I haven't much to add, except to wish you well in this adventure. Adjusting in living off the grid in beautiful Alaska is going to take time, and your body will respond accordingly when your family is better settled in, and you have your life in order. As you have a computer or other communication device, you may wish to see if there is a therapist online who may be able to help you through this challenging time.
I have this problem as well. My doctor has prescribed me medication to take for it and I have found that it helps tremendously. I take it after I eat if I feel like I am going to have a flare up. I also have found that Tums are my best friend. They settle my stomach and usually make the pains go away.
My symptoms include severe stomach pain, and a feeling that I have to go to the bathroom as soon as I take a bite of my food. I also have felt sweaty and fatigued.
These issues started in highschool for me and continue to flare up whenever I get really stressed. I would recommend talking to your doctor about medications (either prescription or OTC) they recommend. It is different for everyone.
Yes, stomach cramps and urgent need for the bathroom. It can be quite horrible . If I can't deep breath it away I try a bath and then I go for Imodium as it will work
