Anybody believe that someone is doomed forever for making some mistakes or choices? That is how I feel now- not with everything. New therapist says we are human. I thought older people were supposed to be perfect.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VONNAH! How is your day?

Vonnah in reply to gogogirl

Sorry for the late reply but it was great. I was in a good mood all day. I am surprised tho i didn't listen to any birthday music or happy songs i have on my playlist. My mom and dad took me out to Tokyo Grill which is an amazing restaurant! I ordered my favorite: fried rice with shrimp and broccoli😋 i took pictures and sent them to my older brothers. They also called me and wished me happy birthday and i got to talk on the phone for a while which isn't so often. It was good. Even with no friends i guess i just tried my best to surpress my thoughts so i don't have a depressing 20th birthday.

Today as i am writing this I'm facing a struggle that's getting worse and i wanna break every mirror i see.

I think it's great you had such a nice birthday and took pictures to remind you.

I can relate somewhat to what you are saying. I always thought that by a certain age, I'd have it all together... Boy was I wrong! And when a mistake or bad choice is made it can seem like that person is just doomed from it, but for situations that I find myself in, I always try to remind myself that it isn't permanent and I try to focus on the good things that could come after or solutions to help the situations. I'm not sure what you are going through exactly, but I hope things get better for you and you can move forward with a smile! 😊

I am in my sixties- used to be a free spirit type.

You can still be a free spirit type as it's not the age of your body which is important but the age of your mind. Some people are born old but they are very boring and wouldn't be friends of mine. Others are always young like you and me which is the only way to live I think. x

No problem! I am an animal lover, and we have a wonderful dog. I had a feeling you would like animals also.!

Yes I feel that way about my career that I don’t enjoy and causes me much anxiety. I studied law and everyone thinks I should be a lawyer but I hate it. But it’s never too late I guess. My cousin always wanted to be an actress and did stuff here and there but recently she has really taken off and had much success and she is in her 50’s. She was diagnosed bi polar but isn’t even on medicine anymore. Things finally came together for her.

Who told you that? There is no such thing as perfection and if there was none of us would be human! If we are doomed making mistakes then you are in good company so join the rest of the human race... x

No. As we age we should look back and reflect on how we can learn from our past. Learn how to move on and let things go. To love and evolve. We are all human and you should never pressure yourself. Remember your never alone. 😘💜💪

I decided after reading that Paris Hilton is getting married, with fiancee kneeling to propose and asking her hand in marriage, that the kind of thinking you describe, which I share, is absolutely preposterous and not based in reality. Look around you at people who do the most bizarre things and eventually lead "normal" lives.

New years resolution for us for 2018 : let's be happy!

No we are not doomed forever, I am older and we still make mistakes, things still goes wrong, other health issues occur, I use to be a free soul, now I am bogged down, with shite!!! As an adult I have learned about personal responsibility and accept my part in the shite, and I own it. I am enough, I am loving, and on bad days I tell myself this, also if anyone has an issue with me I can now accept it’s their issue, and not mine. I think your are perfect, as you are. Have good day x

Hi gogogirl, I know exactly how you feel. Always looking back and thinking 'Well if I had done that when I could have, thing would be ok now', always thinking, always looking back at times in the past, opportunities, decisions and things you should have said and done at certain times. Thing is we can not change our past, I sometime wish I could, but here and now, even what we plan for tomorrow is what is important. I know you will already know that, just wanted you to know, you are not alone thinking this.

Hugs Gail x

I feel that way sometimes, too. I forget that I made the decision for a reason given the circumstances at the time.

If there is regret now, it has to do with some lack in my life and the fact that at age 60, it's not as easy to change my life as it was when I was younger. Still, I try to take what action I am able to, even if it's something small. Even a small improvement is better than none at all.

Also, when those feelings come around, I have to remind myself that I've been blessed in many ways with adventures, people who love me, and wonderful experiences. Despite this terrible illness, my life has had happiness that I would not change.

I also am a firm believer that we never know what's around the corner. My life has proved that to me again and again. I feel we all have a purpose in life, and that purpose is good.

So here's to 2018 with lots of good things coming around the corner for all of us.

Best to you.

Nope absolutely not. The lord jesus has power to forgive and he can wipe your history clean with his shed blood if you come to him through repentence.

gogogirl in reply to

I am not of that religion. I do not believe this is the place for that.

gogogirl profile image
gogogirl in reply to gogogirl

What I should say is that you might have meant well, but telling someone who is suffering with depression to ask for repentance, and foister your own religion on that person is not comforting. This is not the place or the site for that.

in reply to gogogirl

I'm sorry if you feel that way. But thats my charter and the bible tells us that nothing is impossible with god - it genuinely is a cure, god will be with you whatever and you aren't doomed because of your choices. I was merely stating my belief and let you know that you can find peace - it's your choice

gogogirl profile image
gogogirl in reply to

If it is your charter, fine, but this is not a religious site. Also, not all religions subscribe to the same and not everyone is of an organized one. This is not the site to be quoting the bible. Save that for your personal life. There are other posts which are much more to the point.

in reply to gogogirl

Ok! I hope that you find solace soon anyway, however it may be.

gogogirl profile image
gogogirl in reply to

So, now you're hidden? Interesting. Please do not foister your religion on others. That is not comforting to others, but way work for you. Not the purpose of this site. Accept others as they are, not how YOU want them to be.

I’ve never met a perfect person and I know a lot of old people! I don’t think we are doomed. I think some actions have reactions. Obviously. I don’t think it is a forever damnation or doom though. Situations and actions can change therefore bring a more positive reaction. I’ve had some messed up actions in my day and the reactions that followed weren’t pleasant. I’ve also faced similar situations and made more positive actions and the resulting reactions in turn are more pleasant. Nobody is perfect. Cut yourself some slack. You need to forgive yourself so you can make a new path moving forward. You deserve it!
