I've been dealing with severe symptoms of my GAD lately, specifically the last few days. The issue, as many of you know with generalized anxiety disorder, there is no pinpoint or primary stressor of the anxiety, there is just the constant feeling of debilitation, stress, for me, nausea, chills, aches, shivering and compulsive movements. I'm on 10mg of Lexapro but even with it I feel exactly the same. I don't feel like I can safely leave the house, and school every day is a constant trigger. I wish I had people to go with me, like security to just keep me safe because just leaving the house is so traumatizing, but I can't go to anyone without sounding insane. I'm five days clean from cutting which is a small victory, but still suffer suicidal ideations. There is no plan, nor certainty behind those thoughts in any way, but their presence is disturbing for myself and my family. I don't know what to do or how to live anymore- I find relief only when I'm asleep or with my boyfriend, the rest of the times are akin to being in a locked room with bright lights and a cacophony of noise, stimulus and physical discomfort. I'm completely at wit's end.

onelittlerose, first of all, congrats on not cutting for 5 days. That is a good step forward. I would let your doctor know that the anxiety is still breaking through even though on 10mg Lexapro. He may want to up it a little. Success with medication is all about finding the right med for each person as well as the correct dosage. Trial and error, but well worth it. I started out on 10mg Lexapro and then was upped to 15mg. Have been doing very well, no side effects other than dry mouth. Not a bad trade off.

If you haven't started therapy along with the medication, that may be a good idea. One supports the other. Your symptoms are severe enough that you need a professional working with you in order to overcome them one step at a time. I worry about your suicidal ideations. Stay Safe but keep going forward. My best xx

I’m been dealing with GAD and panic disorder for 10 years. I also take lexapro! I know the exact feelings that you are having, however mine are more physical symptoms that just are down right nasty. Some days are great while other days are a struggle. The physical symptoms is what really gets me. However we have to keep plugging along and trying to make the beat out of our life. As we only have one short one to live!
