Venlafaxine.

I have been put on venlafaxine XL 150mg and I have read that there is a shortage of this drug. So I am scared to take it in case I can't get it all the time. Does anyone know about a shortage?

I don’t know where you are. I am in Virginia and have been on this for a very long time. I’ve never experienced a shortage of any kind. I accidentally forgot to put it in my daily pill case once though and upon not taking it I went Bat crap crazy! I’ve never felt so bad in my life! It was horrible! I told my doctor and it turns out that the Med does not react well with some of my other medicine. How this was overlooked I don’t know. I just reduced my dose in an attempt to wean off of it. I’m nervous because I know how quitting affected me. When I quit I didn’t even know it either. The feelings were 100% horrible. Not anxiety. Meds affect every person differently. I will say it has helped me so much! I went through several to get to that. I haven’t heard of any shortages. Talk to your local pharmacy. Just please check any other meds you are on for possible interactions. This could also be a good question for your pharmacist. I hope you find the help you need! It definitely helped me!

I would not have a clue about that. I would speak to your local pharmacist. They would know for sure.

Don't your anxiety get the best of you. If for some chance venlafaxine is not available, your MD already knows about that risk, and would not prescribe it if he could not transfer you to another MD. Have you talked to him/her about your concern? Thank that might ease your worries. And please remember the 11th Commandment: Thou shall not Google. Call MD.
