Yes I had some odd side effects when I started on venlafaxine, took my body a good 8 weeks to get used to it. If really worried perhaps speak to a pharmacist or your doctor to get some reassureancd

in reply to

Thank you it’s just a shock from yesterday as I was feeling sick since Friday and today I’m completely different

in reply to

It's ok, it's not the best drug to get your system used to but it's a helpful one

in reply to Abby14

Definitely

That's good if you feel ready for it .

in reply to

I’m not ready for work yet as I’ve lost all my confidence so together with the help of remploy I hope to get back to work I know it will take time but I need to do it properly this time

I your right .I gave up don't work now.if your no ready don't worry .sometimes it's there for good don't rush and don't worry about it .Try mixing with close friends you can trust only.lot of people don't understand it .

in reply to

You are so right about that a lot of people don’t understand and that is so frustrating

When I said try cutting any other tabs you do need to see did first and do look into courses held through docters you would really benefit from that once a week

Are you on a high dose? You can let them know. I was on this medication before and it did make my heartbeat faster sometimes. It can raise blood pressure. If it's too high you could ask about lowering it and tell them how it's affecting you.

in reply to BELAwesome

I’m currently on 37.5mg which is going to increase to double this in two weeks

BELAwesome profile image
BELAwesome in reply to

Okay, if you see the doctor before the increase, I'd let them know about the other symptoms you are experiencing as well.

in reply to BELAwesome

I’m back to see the doctor in a months time to see how I’m going on with the higher dose

User1964 in reply to

I'm also taking 37.5mg. They worked at first, but now I'm down in the dumps. Going to my primary care physician today. The lack of happiness can be so debilitating to oneself, and to their relationships with others :( I'm glad they're working for you. From what I read, 75 mg. is the therapeutic dose. My doc didn't want to have me on 75. Meds for depression/anxiety can be tough to prescribe. Our brains are so different! Good luck :)

in reply to User1964

I’m actually happy on these meds now just hope they last longer than the others I’ve been on and thank you 😊

User1964 in reply to

I went to doc today and she's upping my dose to 75 mg. I'm going through menopause & my hormones are probably kicking in lol I hope this new dose helps. I know it may take a little while but I am very hopeful.

in reply to User1964

My doctor is keeping me on 75mg for a bit I just hope it works for us both 😊

Adele, wait a few weeks for the tabs to kick in? you will feel great, the only size affects I have is sweating to much, and I feel less emotional? Hope this help :) x

I am on 225 mg venlafaxine and 30 mg mirtazapine Have tried to come off venlafaxine but get to five mg and even to lift my head off the floor is too high. It is good for what it does and I wish I could cope on a lower dose. You will adjust to it over about 4 - 6 weeks then you will wonder how you managed without it. I do agree though do not forget a dose

in reply to Marnie1942

I’ve just come on matazapine and it didn’t do anything for me I can’t wait to get all his new medication into my system

Hi Adele I took venlafaxine on a couple of occasions and they really helped get me back on track. They did make me a bit hyper but it was a higher dose, I started them again late last yr a few months after my mum died but they didn't seem to work -- now I think I didn't give them a chance. (hindsight). I had registered a change of address and had to change doc which I found so stressful and he prescribed Prozac which didn't work then sertraline which worked for a while and now doing nothing.

A psychiatrist cousin of mine is over from the US and was shocked how low I am and suggested I go back to venlafaxine. I hope they work well for you and put that smile back on your face.

Good luck x

in reply to Struggling777

Awww thank you so much 😊 I can’t wait to smile 😊 x

Keith

in reply to kiki1952

Hi Keith yes I’ve had trouble getting hold of any I was ment to get enough to last over the Christmas holidays and new year but I’ve only been given enough for two weeks

Hi Adele, its a problem if we can't get it, we can't just do without it sometimes it will make us feel terrible. I don't think I will take them now. Thank's Adele.

Keith

in reply to kiki1952

Keith my doctor and pharmacy said they have lots of different types of venlafaxine they have capsules liquid and other types your doctor will change it so you will definitely have some medication

My Dr started me on venlaflaxine over a year ago. I felt awful for 4 - 6 weeks will different symptoms. After that he gradually increased the dose every 12 week as he said it took that long to see the complete effect of the medicine. I had slight side effects for about a week with every upped dose but the relief was amazing for me as I had more energy and felt "normal". Give it time, I've her on a few different meds and this has been far superior. I would say that with higher dose for me the swets are terrible but not everyone gets that side affect. Oh and don't miss a dose or you will you do feel horrible. If it's the weekend and you have forgotten to renew prescription a chemist will give you enough to have it renewed. Good luck x

in reply to Fortynfedup

Aww thank you I’ve not feeling high today or yesterday but literally the sweat is pouring of me I hope this doesn’t last long and thank you for letting me know about the prescription that’s good to know x

I had taken it for about 5 years, it just takes awhile for your body to adjust!!! It worked great, then after about 5 years it just quit working, so I recently just switched to a new medicine. Good Luck, I hope you have great success.

Venlafaxine helped me with panic attacks about 15 years ago but I quit using it after many years. I was depressed and anxious with and without Venlafaxine but did not have panic attacks anymore without Venlafaxine. I am trying Prozac now. When I was at 300 mg of Venlafaxine and missed a dose I was in a horrible condition. If you get up to or 4over 300 mg do not miss a dose or you will be in a world of hurt!

in reply to kim111

Ok thank you for this advice

Anyone have a side effect of stuffed up ear?? I'm only on 2nd day of going from 37.5mg to 75mg. It's driving me nuts! Also, the fact that I already have hearing probs. (I'm 53 but wear hearing aids) is making this really difficult. Weird. I woke up last night with stuffed up ear. ugh!! lol I don't have a cold or anything.

in reply to User1964

I’ve not had a stuffed up ear 👂 do u feel dizzy though?

Hello iv been taking venaflaxine at 375mg for about five years before that I'd taken a variety of meds. I find I'm sick most days, I vomitted this morning but I'm not sure if its meds or my anxieties. Iv kind of given up going to doctors cuz of my anxieties.

in reply to

Hi sorry for late reply my doctor has upped mine from 75 to 150 am hoping this will help me I haven’t been sick as such but just still low no energy or motivation
