I'm on this too and I asked multiple Dr's to wean me off of it. They all told me it's one of the harder anti depressants to get off of. Years ago I had trouble with my pharmacy and I didn't have it for 3 days. That was pure hell. I understand now wht you never go off those without a Dr helping you. Trust me do it the safe way. Hope this helps you.
I'd be VERY cautious about weaning yourself off any medication without a doctor's oversight. Are you on any other medications? Are you sure it's the venlafaxine causing the heart palpitations and not anxiety? I'm guessing by your statement that you don't go out much that you also suffer from agoraphobia, which is a difficult thing to overcome, but I'd highly recommend getting a trusted friend or family member to help you get to the doctor to talk about your medications and find a solution to the way you're feeling. It seems obvious to me that your medication cocktail needs to be adjusted, but that is not something you should be managing yourself.
