From Paxil to prozac anyone??

Hi everyone!!!

Has anyone here ever cross tapered from Paxil to Prozac?? I have been on 20 mg of Paxil for 20 years and it has pooped out!! 😡 so my cnp has me do 10 mg of Paxil and 10 mg of Prozac for seven days and then no more Paxil and 20 mg of Prozac. I’m now on day four of no Paxil and the side effects are awful..... I’m wondering how long it will take for the Prozac to kick in and these side effects from no Paxil will go away!!

Why didn't you ask your provider. Sometimes it is easy to go from one drug to another, other times we have problems. I wish they would make these meds to last longer. And as for the side effects they are different for all of us. damn!!!!

The is a test your Dr. can run, my Dr. did it with me, it is called genesense, the inside of the mouth is swabbed, sent to a lab, then they figure out which would be the best suited pill for you, I am on Pristiq and no side affects thank goodness. Thank you for getting back to me. My cnp is the one that is watching and helping me through this. I’m on day six with no Paxil, having flu like symptom withdrawals, as expected. I’m hoping With starting the Prozac at the same time......the withdrawals won’t last as long. I could have done the genetic testing but I honestly did not want to wait to start new meds to start feeling better! It will be trial and error, but hoping for the best!! I hope you are doing well!!! ❤️
