Starting new medication

So I finally went to my new psychiatrist yesterday and he prescribed me tegretol. 100 mg twice a day, and after a week I have to go to a lab to get my blood work done so he can figure out the right dosage. Anyone ever been on this stuff before? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't heard of this drug before so did a little reading.

Tegretol is the marketing name for Carbamazepine which was discovered in 1953. There are other brand names of carbamazepine known as Equetro, Carbatrol, Epitol, Teril.

Research shows that there quite few possible uses. To me as a non-user, the usual directions, precautions, warnings, drug interactions, allergic reactions, or adverse effects need to be more strictly adhered to because of the potential serious side effects .

As usual, we rely on the expertise, skill, knowledge and judgment of healthcare practitioners to prescribe it for us and keep us safe after taking it.
