Hi I am taking 150 mg sertraline for depression and have been for around 7 years now. I find it works well for me but we are all different so what works for others won't necessarily help you. x

I have a prescription for 25 but haven't started yet. Too worried about the side effects, which I hear last a week or two, and then withdrawal. Have you ever tried to get off of it?

My doctor told me 50mg was a baby does so she took me to 100mg because It's stopped helping me, then they took me to 150mg a couple months ago. When I finally got appointment with psychiatrist last week he wanted me to go to 200mg. That's the max. I've never tried going off it but when I was changing from Paxil to this I thought I would go crazy but I think it was withdraw from Paxil. I couldn't stand myself. It has helped me a lot though. It is the best I have used. I have a hard time relaxing. I can't. I even sleep tensed up. I wouldn't worry about 25 mg. If that's all they gave you you should take it. It's worth a try

Thanks for sharing. From what you said I wonder if 25 is even worth it. This was my GP, who suggested I see a psychiatrist to better discuss medicinal treatment. GP seems very conservative.

I've only had GP prescribe it to. If your GP thinks you should see a psychiatrist then you should. I wish they would have sent me years ago. I hope you get all the help you need.

Hi I think your doctor is great and very caring. It is better to start off with a low dose then build up if you need to. Your doctor has clearly recognised that s/he is no expert, and rightly so, and has referred you to an expert for more help. I would go and see the psychiatrist, after all you have nothing to lose and perhaps everything to gain. x
