[Sinclairctm]

Been dealing with depression and anxiety for 30 years. Took Zoloft and occasional Xanax for 20 years but had relapse about 6 months ago. Started on lexsapro about month ago.

Joined blog to compare to others.

Question- do anti depressants wear out ? Was 20 years too long for Zoloft?

Hi Sinclairctm and welcome to the Anxiety Forum. I was left on Xanax for 30 years and 2 years ago weaned off the benzo. However I was put on Lexapro 5-6 years ago and have been doing well until recently. I was always under the impression that your brain needed a respite from the SSRI for a while so that it would continue working.

That may be why your doctor switched you to Lexapro. I wish you well on it. I find it to be a good med with no side effects but dry mouth. Let us know how you do with the switch.
