Welcome to the forums jbert! It sounds like you are suffering from agoraphobia possibly? Do you take any medication or been diagnosed with any specific condition?
Hello friend, I am Pam and I've been through this war. I can give you information and tell you my experiences, but this is a fight you must face to overcome. Basically you see a gp and they recommend a therapist who will probably medicate you and lead you through this to the other side . You will get your life back, it will take courage and work. You need to educate yourself about this illness and start to take control. Every day do one thing you are afraid to do .It doesn't have to be a big thing, just something you can practice facing your fear on. Pam
Depending on her insurance she may not even need to deal with a general practitioner. She can simply Google therapists near her location and get help from someone who actually understands anxiety and depression (I have little faith in general practitioners when it comes to mental health issues--most are morons).
Hi! You are not alone! I have found that listening to classical music helps me through mood issues such as panic attacks. It's not a permanent solution but it's a quick fix for when you need it. For a long term solution you likely need to see a mental health practitioner. A psychiatrist can prescribe medication which can be a good thing though sometimes it's trial and error to find something that works. I currently take an as needed med called Hydroxyzine, which is an older med for anxiety that helps me sleep. Many people prefer meds called SSRIs, however, and there are also other types of meds as well that can help. I would also recommend cognitive behavioral therapy which helps you identify and change thought patterns. For example, my therapist suggested I keep a journal and write down my feelings and opinions. While small in the scheme of things, this practice has helped me see what's triggering my mood issues and my responses to them. At any event, I am sorry to hear you're going through these issues. Was there anything that triggered them to your knowledge?
Classical songs that seem to help my mood:
