Bi-Polar Disorder with Anxiety, and Anger

Hi, my name is Marc and I am a 54 year old male who has suffered with Bi-Polar Disorder for my entire life. BTW, this is my first post "anywhere" I am on various medications and seem to have tried them all though out my life. My anger gets me into so much trouble and has increased my anxiety year over year. I am at my wits end and need help and don't know where to turn. I have been to numerous psychiatrists and therapists my entire life and only seem to be getting worse. I don't know where to turn next and was looking for any help available. Thank you.

Hi Marc,

I'm wondering why your anger hasn't been lessened by counseling in all these years. I'm bipolar II as of 1 1/2 years ago. GAD, too. As I understand it, bipolar gets worse as time goes on. That's been true for me. I learned this in my research but I suppose I could be wrong. There's a site you may like: bipolarsupport.org. I think you'll find real support there. I can say that here because there's no bipolar community here. You can bring up your anger and anxiety problem and I know there will be people who can respond with knowledge there.

I'm still interested in what anger counseling or management you've been through in all these years if you're willing to tell me. Take care.

Hi Sue and thank you for getting back to me with a response I really appreciate it unfortunately I have not been able to find a good therapist. I see a psychiatrist and I'm on several meds but I do need to find a new therapist Who has experience with bipolar disorder so far I have not had much luck. I do suffer from GAD and social anxiety and I have been told that it is a byproduct of my bipolar disorder. I am going to check out the website you recommended and hopefully will be able to get some more help through that site. Thank you again

Sure, you're very welcome and good luck to you. I've only recently been diagnosed with BD II and I've had social anxiety and GAD for decades. I don't know about it being a byproduct of the BD. I have been able to desensitize myself against the social anxiety fairly well except for speaking in front of large groups.

I aso have had GAD and social anxiety forever, but also BP II, Unfortunately it runs in my family and I was diagnosed many years ago, I also have ADD. My 18 year old daughter was diagnosed with BP II at age 9. My doctors in the past have referenced to a correlation of my anxiety and ADD with BP.

Interesting! My son with GAD has ADHD that never became manageable in puberty like his 2 brothers did. He still has every bit of his symptoms in adulthood as they were as a child so he still has to take his ADHD meds to accomplish most things. Did your ADD become more manageable as you moved into adulthood? Or would you even be able to tell with multiple diagnoses to try to tweeze out?
