Hi everyone. My name is Danny and I suffer from Anxiety Disorder and Panic Attacks. I feel like a shell of my former self before the first panic attack. Any advice? Thank you

See a doctor and go on meds for anxiety. I know how you feel. I have been depressed for 7 months and I am seeing a therapist and on medication. It takes time, but there is treatment for these things.

I agree with Ddorne. See a doctor, preferably a good psychiatrist, and go to a good counselor. Expect medication to help with the anxiety. Since anxiety and depression go hand in hand, expect depression to emerge sooner or later. You may need an antidepressant, too. Counseling will help you deal better with the panic attacks and reduce their frequency and duration. Good counseling, that is. Ask around for both a good counselor and a good Dr. It will make all the difference.

And how do you find the good doctor? What criteria? What reviews and how to get them?

Thx

Ask around if you know anyone from group counseling you may attend, anyone who also has depression/mental health issues in your family, friends, acquaintances, church or other place, or if you are under any other doctors' care who they would recommend. You don't have to say you are looking for yourself. You can search for reviews online but take these with a grain of salt as sometimes these are motivated by anger. That's why I take the time to do online reviews of the Drs. I like. Look at a few other Dr's. reviews so you can note how many total reviews each Dr. tends to get; then you know what number is a good sampling. I do a search for "reviews of psychiatrists near 33333" where 33333 is my zip code and I usually find that Healthgrades is the most frequently used type of review system in my area. You may find the most used review system in your area is different. Fifteen reviews is high for my area and 7-10 is more average. If a Dr. has only 3 reviews, I can't tell much about him or her from reviews, but I can still look at his or her subspecialties, education, hospital affiliation, insurance accepted and years in practice. I can decide just how far I will drive for a good Dr. Sometimes before my appointment I get a chance to talk to other people in the waiting room and learn a little more about my Dr. that way. In the end, you personally decide by meeting with the Dr. a few times if you think you have found the right Dr. for you.
