I have been having many bouts of AFIB since a colonoscopy 2 years ago. I don't know what set it off but went into AFIB during the procedure and ended up in the ER. I converted on my own while there. I have had many very serious AFIB events since then at least weekly. One thing I noticed is that certain things like Coconut water, Vitamin E and Fish Oil set me off. I was always able to take them but not after my first episode. Someone told me that fish oil and coconut oil and flax seed collect in the atrium and it causes the nerves to have issues setting off AFIB. I have tried everything under the sun. My AFIB comes on from certain things like those I mentioned, excessive salt and stress. I start feeling "odd" and then the next thing I know my heart rate is 140-160! So, I started experimenting with staying away from all the above and keeping my Potassium higher like at 4. I have been taking high doses of Mag Taurate everyday for the last 3 weeks. What is now happening is when I start to feel that "odd" feeling and my heart starts to go there if I walk around it stops and I am in NSR. I know without a doubt its the higher K+ level and the Mag Taurate. I have used many Magnesium supplements but that one by far has done wonders. I was also Anemic and I take ONLY plant based Iron. The other is way too hard on your liver. I can really feel the difference with this kind of magnesium. I have never gone three weeks without some kind of episode. They were talking ablation but for now I think I will continue as it appears what I am doing is really helping.
Magnesium Taurate: I have been having... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Magnesium Taurate
I take 1000mg of Taurine with my Mag.Taurate 2 x125mg as recommended here.
Yes I have recently been taking high dose magnesium both morning and evening and for the last three weeks I have only had one minor episode of af. I think the body gets depleated of magnesium especially when on anti depressants and other drugs. But if you just take the daily recommended dose it doesn't replenished your bodies store's so you have to "overdose". I can't believe the difference its made in my life and I am back to my active athletic pursuits with gusto. Salt also effects me badly as just a small amount kicks it off but maybe as I get more magnesium into my system that will calm down too but only time will tell. Why this simple fix is not the first thing the doctors try I don't know but the cynic in me suggests that approach would cut the profits of the pharmaceutical industry.
