hi! My dad was diagnosed with PCA in Feb 2024 and has been on doublet therapy. He has high volume bone mets with no symptoms. Currently he is on zytiga and prednisone (5mg). He got bilateral orchidectomy done in feb’24.
We are considering dendritic cell therapy for him to be done next month. His MO in India said that he has not seen anyone do DC till now and that it might not be helpful. Just trying to find examples specifically from someone has done it in India?
Please share your experience and why you did/did not do this therapy?
also, my dad recently became a grand- dad and he is over the moon. I want him to see his grandson grow into a strong man just like his grandpa!

hi where are you in India ? I am in Mumbai and my dad is on doublet too. Who is your doctor ? What is dendritic therapy indicated for - even while one is hormone sensitive ?
I know one doctor in Mumbai who is pretty well versed with these new therapies - and is an ex tata hospital doctor
I live in malaysia but come to mumbai often. My husband is fighting this wretched disease. Do let me know if you find out if this therapy is effective?
Yes. I am Indian living in Canada. My dad is in India and he is being treated at max hospital saket, Delhi.
Dendritic cell therapy is similar to Provenge and is available at APAC Biotech, New Delhi. In India it is available for hormone sensitive men as well. You can ask your MO about this treatment and his opinion as well. Not sure why I don’t find a lot of Indians getting this therapy done.
also, kindly share the details of the MO you mentioned. Thanks
Sorry for the late reply. My dad is in Patna, Bihar, the therapy is available in New Delhi, APAC Biotech is the name of the company that is currently developing this. This immunotherapy is currently being done in India. They use tumour cells to prepare vaccines that can be self administered over a period of time. It is somewhat similar to Provenge available in the US.
it might cost somewhere close to $20K and it can be self administered. It works on similar concept as Provenge. Each cycle will give you 6 vaccines that you can self inject every 3 weeks.
Nothing; I had a very low PSA and it stayed low, under 1 for about 18 months then it rose. PSMA scan earlier this year showed 2 cancerous nodes, one in my chest which we radiated and one in my pelvic area which we took out robotically June 10th. 1st circulating tumor test just came back negative. extra 7 nodes removed in pelvic area were negative. Pretty good news.
I had a discussion with Dr. Bandana and she seemed very encouraging. She shared two case studies with us, also available on their website. I am also trying to understand why it is not yet popular in India considering no side effects and possible benefits. Therefore, I put this on the forum to understand more about this therapy.
I recently got to know about a similar therapy from @God_loves_me being done in the US with really promising results. Check this link out.
I am from india , Madhya Pradesh, father having prostate cancer. I am also curious about this therapy . Till now , all oncologists have discouraged us to undergo this therapy. Please share your experience.
