May dad, who was first on bicalutamide and is on eligard for the last two years, has been recently having some problems with gallbladder (for the first time in his life). He also develop aversion for fish, which he used to adore.
I found an article speaking about link between androgen depreviation therapy and increased risk for biliary disease.
Been on degarelix/lupron/eligard for years, still love fish, but recently was diagnosed with a dilated biliary duct.
I haven’t heard of these myself. But nothing surprises me with this ol man disease. Our chemistries are so screwed up . Now If I drink a glass of red wine I get a sharp pain through my ear and jaw. I can’t do it . I wasn’t like that before. Some foods now just don’t jive with our new altered chemistry . Sorry about the gall bladder. I hope he get a fix quickly for that . Anything we have in our selves before pc can double and rise up after treatments tear us down and change our chemical makeup. Take care
I used to love red wine but now, every time I drink it, I get really bad hot flushes all through the night. Stomach also becomes unsettled. Now I am reduced to drinking 5% volume rose. Is nothing sacred?
Thank you so much, that's very kind of you to say. He's my best friend and we've been together 36 years. Taking everything one day at a time and living in the moment as best we can. BTW, I live not too far from you, along 89A near the Mingus. Small world. 😊
I have seen a number of research papers saying that ADT was dangerous. An Israeli professor of urology or oncology said it could cause heart problems or a stroke. He said it was unnecessary. I turned 70 in April 2021 and was prescribed ADT tablets. I had horrible side effects and decided to come off this treatment. My oncologist wasn't at all concerned that I did that. I have been reading a book called 'Oestrogen (estrogen) the killer in our midst' by Chris Woollams an Oxford biochemist. He says that testosterone isn't the problem with PCa. So why do those who say they want to help us, prescribe these tablets? I figure my testosterone is much lower than it was in my 30s. If I was going to have a problem, why wasn't it 30 years ago?
Funny you should say that. I have been on Zoladex since April 2019 and have just been diagnosed with gallstones. That came out of nowhere. Anyway, the surgeon wants to take my gallbladder out, so I will let him have his way with me. Haven't had fish for a while, so maybe I should give it a try sometime soon.
Hi My Dad76, I've been on eligard for 2 years, the only adverse side affect I've had is if I drink alcohol I have to be within spitting distance of a toilet. Brings on a bowel movement in a minute. Which is not a bad thing in a sense as I don't generally touch it any more unless I'm constipated, works every time. Cheers and good luck for your best mate Glenn
