After 2 years and 8 month vacation PSA back up 0.3 what now?

Here we go again. My husband was diagnosed Nov 2010. In all this years the treatments were Prostatectomy, 37 radiations to prostate bed, Adt, Zytiga, 6 rounds of chemo, plus more radiation to the lymph nodes. 3 weeks ago I took him to urgent care and his gallbladder was removed. The liver enzymes were high and Xrays showed a bit of fluid around the lungs doctor said nothing to worry about. So after his 6 month psa check, the PSA is 0.3. What now? Can he go back to Lupron again to drop the PSA or what's the next options available for him? He's with the MO right now. Sad I couldn't go in with him for the reasons we ALL know!πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈThank you so much for reading one of the many stories.

Remember you are not alone, have a great day!πŸ™πŸ’›

Of course He can go back on Lupron and PSA most likely will drop again. But liver function tests should be monitored closely.

Great! I agree about monitoring the liver enzymes. For some reason MO just checks only the PSA. I had mentioned before about the enzymes and he replied " no need"??? Thanks you so much for the info

Why did he stop Lupron?

His MO told him that after Chemo, Lupron and Zytiga if he responded to treatment with an undetectable PSA, that was all that he needed. He was on Lupron for 9 months. After he stopped all treatment, his PSA was undetectable for 2 years and 8 months, without counting the time from where he had his first Firmagon shot his PSA drop from 8.7 to <0.1

That is a very strange plan. When Lupron is used as an adjuvant therapy to salvage whole pelvic radiation for men with N1 (positive pelvic LNs), it should be used for 2-3 years.

What questions do you suggest I should ask in his next appointment?

Why did he stop treatment with known LN metastases?

When were his last scans (PET or CT and bone)? Has there been any discussion of intermittent ADT?

He had test done at the hospital before the removal of the gallbladder so one month ago.

I used zytiga for a while and then it stopped working. I am currently on Nubequa. Good luck and God Bless

As you know every situation is different. My PSA has been over 1000 yes 1000 for over five years. I just came back from my oncologist and my PSA is currently over 1100. The good news is I feel great and I am not letting numbers bother me. Good luck and God bless

Whoa gallbladder? Painful. Poor guy. Maybe as simple as back on the Lupron.
