Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in April 2019. He did a month of firmagon and has been on lupron since. In June 2019 he started 6 treatments of docetaxel and his psa went down but two months later it was rising again. He was entered in a trial where Zytiga was added to his treatments (and the trial treatment was olaparib, but based on how his bloodwork is we think he is in the control arm-but I guess we can't say that definitively). His genetic tests did not indicate any of the markers that respond to olaparib; but it was a trial. His psa went down to .03 on the zytiga. It was .04 last month and now is .05. The Dr. says that he will probably need to shift treatments in 5 or 6 months and mentioned the possibility of psma treatment. Mike is being treated at Tulane University.
While on this treatment his scans indicated that the cancer shrank in the lymph nodes and bones so that they were not really detectable. I think next month he will get scans again.
I am interested in possible options if the cancer is starting to progress.
Thank you for whatever you want to share.

My husband has a first visit with Dr. Sartor late August for consult after five failed treatments in just over three years. Are you happy with Dr. Barata and do you think Dr. Sartor is still involved with your husband's treatment plan? Sending good thoughts that your husband gets alot more than just a few more months on Zytiga.
