I’ve been on Firmagon for 3 mths now, PSA is <1, so the initial T flare often associated with Lupron is not an issue. I read here that most ADT prescribed is Lupron. Should I consider switching from Firmagon to Lupron? Night sweats seem to be my most annoying current side effect.

Firmagon versus Lupron
No continue with Firmagon. Lupron is though to be associated with cardiovascular complications. Besides some people receive lupron and the T never recovers because the testis stop responding to the LH and FSH.

Lupron is no walk in the park. If all your getting is night sweats stick with it. You can kill off the hot flashes and night sweats with Magace. Also called Megestrol.
I have been on Lupron for several years and my PSA has not responded as well as before. So a couple of days ago I asked my Onc for a switch to Firmagon. He also prescribed Zytiga, but my supplemental insurance (Silverscript) have not approve it. Will find out in about 4-5 weeks if Firmagon makes a difference. BTW, since both of them suppress T, you will experience hot flashes with either. Furthermore, breast enlargement (gynecomastia) will happen.
For Cmdrdata - if you served in the military in a combat zone, check with the VA to see if you can get Zytiga from them. You'll have to see one of their doctors but you can continue to work with your private medical team.
Thanks nyjoe. Unfortunately I have not served although all my working life had been in the defense industry developing SIGINT equipment, thus I had full TS and CSI clearances. I am all set Zytiga wise, thanks to a veteran that passed a few months ago and his loved one donated his leftover to me.
I've been on continuous Lupron for 10 years, after two shorter periods, like with radiation. Megestrol, aka Megace, eliminated hot flashes when my urologist prescribed it. I think I may have read something negative about megestrol, but so long ago that I don't know; you should research that. I eventually stopped having hot flashes, permanently. I've never had gynecomastia. My health plan doesn't seem to offer Firmagon.
