I have been on firmagon and zytiga since December 2021. I seem to be tolerating both well (normal effects of fatigue, loss of strength, some foggiest). Liver and kidney numbers are goo and PSA is undetectable.
Recently, after each firmagon shot, I get body aches and feel bad for about a day-but even that is quite tolerable .
MO has suggested that I consider switching to lupron as a convenience to me. Obviously, a 3 month shot is more appealing than a 28 day sequence. I am somewhat hesitant since the treatment seems to be working. MO believes that nothing would really change except the actual medication and it’s frequency.
What are the risks of switching at this point?

I did have a stroke in the lower cerebellum about 5 years ago. The medical profession check out everything, all indicators pointed to me being a low risk for stroke. But I did have one
Conclusion was likely afib. I have worn an implanted heart monitor for 4.5 years with no afib indicators. I take elliquis and will likely be on that forever. I understand that lupron may be slightly harder on the heart than Abiterone. Does this change your view regarding risks for me?
In 2 weeks, I will meet with cardiologist for my 6 month check and will get his views as well.
I’m on both Firmagon and Zytiga as well. 5+ years on firmagon except for about 9 months about 41/2 years ago when my mo switched me to Diphereline for convenience even though I didn’t say I wanted that. Switched mo and switched back to Firmagon for several reasons. I read a study that compared Lupron to Firmagon and Firmagon proved better long term. I don’t have the study to hand but you can Google it. Those on lupron switched to Firmagon after a period of time because of it’s greater efficacy. Also Firmagon is better for heart.
Initially I had little effect from the shot except inflammation at the injection site but for the last 6-7 months I too have had an off day the next day. One day only so I can tolerate it and I wouldn’t change for the reasons given. If I want to travel when the shot is due, I just do it myself so I’m not tied to an appointment.
Been on Lupron for 15 plus years.......... Got big tits, weeny wiener, changed from tight pants to tighter pants, feet/legs hurt like hell and have a closet full of high heels...other than that it's a breeze.....

But you kicked the shit out of APC ! You are My Hero! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
Hey guy! I had a one month shot of firmagon . Then i went onto tri-monthly Lupron for two years then an orchiectomy allowed me to drop the lupron . Tri monthly Lupron is super common . I dropped the pc and now I deal with osteopenia sarcopenia , nocturia , and hypogonadism which are all from simply having no T . Better than pc chomping me down . Imho Knock that pc away my friend! 💪. Scott
