Found you guys 3 mo. ago. You've been a great source of info and encouragement. Started with Lupon at PSA 61 after RP. PSA before surgery was 52, so Wrong Way from the start. 4 weeks in PSA was down to 6.65 and started Taxotere chemo. Steady drops into 0.4 --0.3--0.2--0.167. about 25% drop per treatment. Got 6th of 10 Taxotere treatments today, but blood tests show PSA starting to creep Wrong Way. Back above 0.2. With questioning, doc admitted I was the first patient who had PSA jump after RP in his 9yrs of practice... Not great to be #1. Now trying to get insurance to allow addition of xtandi to my mix. Hoping for the best...I have grand kids who need to learn a lot from me.

When it seems tough, remember chemo was never going to last forever. And it had to help since PSA went down. Zytiga may really suprise you! Lots of options left!
Hi Doug, sorry to hear about poor outcome from RP. Looks like chemo was doing the job, the increase right now is wrong way but still small - so keep at it. Hopefully Enza will help you.
You have only spoken of a urologist with a practice of 9 years. Make sure you have a smart Onco who is specializing in treating PCa too by your side. Whichever way you are gong, you are more on the right path since bulk of the cancer has been taken out of your body with the prostatectomy. Now it is a matter of dealing with the residual cancer cells which are hiding and growing somewhere in your body. Of course, they can grow fast depending on the Gleason Score but you have many treatment options to keep the decease under control. You may discuss a multimodal treatment approach with your Onco.
Good luck, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Enjoy with your Grand Kids. I have six of them and they are my treasure!
You'll learn more from your grand kids than they will learn from you. Wait till the Iphone XXX is released 20 years from now and you'll see how Ismart they are.
Hi Doug, has your ONC suggested Zytiga? Worked for me for 5 years and now on Xtandia but PSA has not dropped in 4 months that I been on same. Also on Lupron & Xgeva which stopped bone mets. Wish you best.
Onc. jumped right on it and only took one day to get Xtandi pushed through with insurance. He seems to think it is a better choice than going with Zytiga. What do I have to look forward to when adding this to Lupron and Taxotere?? Kind of felt like I got kicked in the teeth when blood test showed rise in PSA before even getting through with first round of chemo...
