Hello everyone! I’ve just come back from my walk and run, one that very much celebrated the season and Halloween.
I had a lovely morning, with a sunny start to the day, with coffee in bed, reading through my walking books and planning my new nutritional plan for the next 4 weeks (Hashimoto elimination diet), and then getting my running gear on for my walk and run.
I chose a long-sleeved t-shirt, sleeveless vest, cap, scarf and gloves, the latter two of which were unnecessary in the warm weather.
I had my Jazzy Halloween list ready, and if people want to listen and walk with me, head to my Spotify playlist titled “CBDB’s Jazzy Halloween” open.spotify.com/playlist/7... .
I chose to do some longer 10 min warm-up and cool-down walking sections (giving me some more time on my walking feet).
Then, a 10 min joggling section, getting me to the halfway point, where I spent a minute to walk backwards. Yup, you heard right. I recently read about the benefits of walking backwards. It helps your balance, but it also helps train your muscles for walking as well as running.
Whilst doing that backward walking, I could see a young athletic couple with two dogs catching up to me fast, and once they were closer, I apologetically said, “Sorry, I am walking backwards”, as if they couldn’t see that (😒🤦🏻♀️).
But her response was so lovely. “That’s great! You do you!” she said.
Yes, exactly!
Then another 10-minute running section after that. And a 10-minute cool-down walk to get me back home (not sure why I call it “cool-down”, it feels pretty active walking to me).
I even used my new “boot buddy” to get any mud of my shoes. The boot buddy was a brilliant recommendation some time back on these forums and I finally bought one and love it. It now waits just outside our house door for my muddy shoes.
Then, stretches, smoothie and a 2nd cup of coffee and then a bit of writing (this post)!
Annoyingly, now it’s back to some weekend overtime work, but what a lovely morning I had.
Happy Halloweeny Walking, everyone!
