Getting fitter 😁

Instructor57 profile image
β€’26 Replies

I have been giving my foot a rest for the last few days but ready for some consolidation now after finishing my C25k Re run .It looks (and feels) like I am getting fitter.

More than 2 stone lighter,

Blood sugar levels back in normal range as well as other blood indicators.

Spoke to my GP this morning as I have noticed my resting HR getting lower, he is happy about that and suggested it's the result of my fitness improving and he is even considered taking me off beta blockers!

And he told me my BP readings are perfect !

The bottom picture is my Strava fitness level

Happy days (again) 😁

That’s excellent news.. what a massive improvement. Another one revived and renovated by the NHS and your own persistence and running smoothly again πŸ‘πŸƒπŸ½β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜Š

You must feel so chuffed . You really deserve to be proud. Being so much lighter must be good for all your organs and joints.

What did you find was the main culprit in your previous weight gain? At present I could do with losing a stone-I gain when I’m not being hyper vigilant on portion control. I can easily unthinkingly eat the same amount of food as my husband who is a different frame, a different sex ( and extremely active).

Well done you. Build your strength and stamina back carefully and gently . I look forward to hearing more.

Many thanks , I think (as there often is) there were many reasons for the weight gain .

I have always enjoyed my food and yes, portion control as well as food choices have not always been the best , I used to love baking , and living on my own that's not a great combination!

Plus my work as a driving instructor!

And although I was running, I wasn't doing much else .

Both my weight and blood sugar crept up slowly.

The heart attack was a real wake up call.

I lost the first stone fairly easily just by cutting out cakes, biscuits and watching portion sizes and just all round better food choices .

The next stone was a little harder but I basically cut out the majority of avoidable carbohydrates, so no bread, rice , potato, that sort of thing and also started (with medical approval) intermittent fasting.

Mostly 16/8

But a couple of 24 hour water fasts also.

Now the weight loss, and fasting have brought my sugar levels back to normal and other blood indicators also .
