Looking forward to a fitter leaner me over the next year

This time next year I want to be healthy, have excellent heart and lung function, be much fitter and leaner, What I have in mind is to start power walking, work my way up to gentle jogging, which is something I have never done, and eventually work my way up to the 5k challenge.

To achieve this goal I would enjoy connecting with others who have the same intentions as me. I need a buddy who I can communicate with who is also thinking of becoming much fitter and leaner in the process.

I am going to give myself the most inspiring challenge I have ever given myself in my life, but really want to do it. Am really tired of being a couple of stones overweight and having poor lung function, so want to engage with some buddies to see us through it all.

Talking to people and colleagues is part of my job which I really love and am generally happy but I now need to go the extra mile and motivate myself to aspire to a better me. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Well done you! Yep I got to a point where I was just annoyed at not feeling good in any way, any more. Great positive post by yourself, doing this for all the right reasons. 👍 Load and loads of realistic, achievable info on here. And I love that we understand each other, wherever we are starting from! Good luck have fun! 🍀

Hello there 55unfitfatandfedup, thank you for replying and am just fed up with feeling fifty-five fat and frumpy. Short of going on Davina McCall's programme I thought this forum would be a much better base to start from.

Keep in touch and let's motivate each other, if you can do it then I can as well. Take care x

Sounds like you and I could be twins! How about we follow each other?

Hello 55unfitfatandfedup, you won't be fed up for long with me as a buddy. Will start to follow you as well and we can always gee each other up over the next few weeks.

Hi there Chataholic and welcome to our friendly little forum! So glad you've found us! I joined the forum just over a year ago - at going on 70; fat, unfit and with permanent mobility issues! Our lovely members here have encouraged and supported me so much, I can't tell you.:) When I joined I could only manage 200 steps - I kid you not - and now I do 3500 easily. AND I've lost around 50 lbs on the way! If I can do it, you surely can! Well done for making the huge decision to get fitter and healthier - we'll be with you every step of the way!

The greatest thing is that on this forum we all do it together! Men, women, dogs - you name it, we're all in it together! Won't be long and you'll have to change your name - to 55fitslimandoverthemoon!:)

Welcome. You've come to a great place. We can get you on your way, and at some point you may want to check out the couch to 5km community on health unlocked.

You've joined at a great time. If you look a post or so behind yours, there's one called 'Let's walk together week 3'. If you'd like to jot down a goal, we'll be checking in once a week to see how everyone is doing and encourage each other. No pressure, all support. ♥️

Happy walking. Let us know how you're doing
