A glorious day here on the Llyn today. After a week of wind, rain, snow, sunshine and showers. Most welcome indeed.
Not feeling strong enough for a run yet, but a walk was needed.
Visiting some of our favourite haunts, before heading home for a week, we headed for one, which is one of the beautiful little churches on the Pilgrim Route.
A tiny church hidden down a steep-ish road...it can also be accessed by the Coastal path. Always peaceful and seldom any other folk visiting. Still used … for weddings, funerals, high days and holidays.
Its simplicity is its beauty... Rushes on the floor and floral decorations, wild and seasonal...
Today, the surrounding area was a sea of yellow-gold gorse. Vivid against an azure sky and backdropped by sparkling sea. I took so many photographs it was hard to choose.
The path down to the church. Lined by a necklace of daffodils, tiny yellow celandines laying the lightest covering over the ancient marking stones of the silent sleepers.
We had walked along the coastal path for a while. Reveling in the warmth of the sunshine on our backs. Our feet on the springy turf, where tiny yellow flowers and dandelions vied with each other for pride of place...Down the path and into the church... the door has to be closed and and when you leave you have to make sure the bolt is across the door outside to keep out the goats!
The dim interior, only adds to the feeling of complete serenity and peace. Still bedecked from the joy of Easter Day.. the ancient font and every window sill, was dressed with the yellows and the golds... The stone slabbed floor covered with the thickest, most sweet-smelling grasses.. our feet sank in, as in the finest deep pile carpet.
We marveled, as ever at the wonder of the place... high beamed wooden, vaulted roof, the polished seats and the small window above the altar.
After a while we left, and continued our journey...but not before I spent a few moments, thinking of some friends here on the forum, who are trying to come to terms with life changing issues, and who are trying to find the strength to find a new pathway.
For me Mother Nature is a great healer, is a perfect listener and has the power also, to answer many questions.
