Following on from my Park Walk post, here’s a guide from the Park Run team on how to reach 5K!
It’s absolutely fine to walk at the same pace throughout…or speed up or slow down as you want. They emphasis that the plan is only a guide, and you can go at your own pace and do as little or as much as you want.
The important thing is that you are out there walking…and having fun!
How active are you? Could you say it’s something you want to do, and would they do it with you? They can download Active10 on their phone for a start to log their walks…or any one of the popular apps…MapMyWalk, Strava, Runkeeper all enable you to log walks.
It might also be an idea to consider and suggest taking a training course in Nordic Walking. It’s fun to do the training with others, and Nordic Walking really does provide a good workout whilst supporting the body.
I wrote about it here
