Got a really busy day tomorrow, so I'm putting this up tonight.
Here we are at week three already, how is it going for everyone. Please join in as we share our walking adventures and accomplishments and encourage each other to get our steps in or increase our distances or speed.
On the C25k forum I started a 6 wk quest three years ago and between The admins we keep it going to help keep everyone motivated but working towards their own personal goals.
So I would like to do a similar thing on here for walking. This is going to be 12 weeks plan in total as for some of us we need a bit more time to get back on our feet but it will be very inclusive and doesn't matter what you walking goals are, please feel free to join.
Here are a set of example as to what your goals could be.
1) I want to be able to go for little walks a couple of times a week, not bothered with speed or distance just getting out the door.
2) I want to be able to do 3x 5km walks a week
3) I'm training for a ......... km event.
4) I want go out for .... walks a week to help me destress.
There are so many different combinations and there will be non that are not good goals.
The aim in the 12 weeks plan is to build you up to a walking fitness level that suits yourself and your personal circumstances. The most important thing is to make your goals manageable and not to over extend yourself. It is always better to get to goal and go further than not reach a goal as that demoralises you.
Please add your name below if you would like to take part as we support each other to reach our goals.

After being benched by my donor co-ordinator at the beginning of the week I rested up a bit and started to feel a bit better. I'm slowing my pace down but upping my time out. In time I should be able to work on a slightly faster walk. Been giving the new app a go and it is very strict the active 10 mins have to be continuous and I'm not fast enough yet but I think it's a good goal to aim for. Wishing you all a happy healthy week,
Well done Sureworldheat, 18lbs is great going! Are you happy maintaining your current weight, or are you looking to lose a bit more? This is certainly the place to do it - lots of support and encouragement! Good luck.
Time I joined this challenge! I do a lot of walking anyway, with my bearded collie cross, Echo. I have just bought an Omron pedometer from Ebay, so when that's delivered I'll have a better idea of total daily activity/steps. Looking forward to it!
Thanks RFC, my step counter was delivered this morning. I haven't had time to set it up properly yet as I've been looking after my grandchildren all day. I'm looking forward to getting it (and myself!) up and running tomorrow.
Sounds like you being very sensible. It is so hard to get balance right I find. The concussion clinic sounds like a great place and will help to give you the confidence to try things out as they will of been tested for conclusion specifically, that is great news. Onwards and upwards as they say.
Hi all, if you don't mind adding me too! i love walking and have always taken a walk a day of a couple of miles, but this 10,000 steps is a very different thing!
My first question is - do you include in the step count the steps you do all day on daily tasks? i don't like having my phone on my body much really, so does any use a pedometer that's pretty cheap and works well?
Yesterday, i ramped it up and did 5 1/2 miles and really enjoyed it,but wondering if i have the time to do that much today. If normal daily tasks steps are included then i might. Does anyone split the walking time and have you found this to be as effective?
Hi there and welcome onboard. I have added your name. The 10,000 steps is done thoughout the day. You can get cheap pedometers that just clip on to your clothes, the only thing I would recommend, if it is within your price range get one that calibrates itself, the older ones you used to have to measure and walk a certain distance and count your steps and wiggle the reading about. they can be calibrated but they can take a while to get just right as you tweak it. Do you have a desk job? Or are you mobile throughout the day? I find that people who have a desk job for 8+ hours a day find it harder to add in their steps.
No, thankfully I don't have a desk job! By including daily tasks in the count - I feel more confident that I will be able to do it! Thanks for the advice on the pedometers. Will look at Argos!
