I got my walk in at noontime-ish today. And it was fairly sunny. And after chatting yesterday on the forums and also to hubby, I’m wondering if noontime walks (before or after lunch) can be “my thing”!
It makes sense, as mornings are taken up by runs—at least three of them, and the other mornings, I enjoy not having to get up super early. Early evenings are taken up by rowing. So I could use a bit of activity at lunchtime, even if just 15 minutes. It keeps my metabolism up and makes me feel active in the middle of the day, and I’m sure I’ll find that the fresh air will help me focus on afternoon desk work.
So here’s to noontime walks before or after lunch.
Today, on my 25-minute walk, I still focussed on an “intentional walk”. After 5 minutes of walking, I also did a few dynamic calf stretches and some hip flexor movements. Basically, leaning against a railing and walking my legs out in all sorts of angles. And then lifting leg to perpendicular, and twisting the bent leg forward and backwards. If this does not make sense, I might need to find some photos for this to explain.
My back felt great throughout the rest of the walk, and I think this was due to the stretches. I even added a few minutes of backward walking at the midpoint. (It’s on a rather remote-ish field track with no traffic and only the odd dog walker watching me curiously ) For the wooded patches of the walk, I could also smell the wetness of the woods, a nice, fresh, earthy smell!
There we are! A happy walk! I hope you all had one of those, as well!
