i"m a postman and my round is 13 miles long, it takes me just over 4 hours to get round, i do this 5 days a week, the fit bit said i do about 35,000 steps during my round, on my days off i play golf, and spend my holidays hillwalking, so now at the grand old age of 58 my feet are well and truely knackered, i currently have something called mortons neuroma which is a very painful foot condition, i cant wait til i"m 60 and retire, and i can finally put my feet up.

Wow compostcorner, you have truly walked enough for 10 people!?! Congratulations on that score! But I'm so very sorry about your feet. I don't know anything about your condition, but I'm hoping something can be done to ease the pain. Good luck and best wishes:)

Wow you notch up some miles in a week well done. Im sorry your feet are playing up that must cause havoc with your week. I’m interested in your foot problems as I suspect I might have something similar and am going to talk to me gp about it. So far just Dr Google, which is never recommended. Did you doctor diagnose or did you have to go to a podiatrist?

my gp sent me to the hospital for a scan, which showed i had mortons neuroma, this is what the scan results said......"philip has a mortons neuroma with positive muldars click between the 3rd and 4th intermetatarsal space, there is a smaller mortons neuroma between the 2nd and 3rd intermetatarsal space. there is minor degenerative changes at the ist metatarsal, and slight synovial hypertrophy at the 2nd metatarsal." and if you can understand all that you should become a doctor. so i have specialised custom insoles made for my shoes, and an appointment has been made for steroid injections in my foot.

Hi, some good numbers for the walking. Is your foot problem work related might be worth seeing if you can get the P.O. to provide health care for you

i"m hoping they will pay for my customised insoles

Hope they will do a bit more than that, your a trained valuable asset tell them to invest a few quid in you or they might have to recruit a inexperienced unreliable traine

Compost corner, when I saw your post I thought of the irony of some of us suffering from walking too little and others like you from walking too much! I’m sorry for your condition. I learn that corticosteroid injections can help. Also wearing wide-toed footwear. I hope you get relief from the pain and finish your stint in your job with some measure of comfort. In India, in many of our villages, the postman is the only one who brings people news of the world outside! My great-grandfather was a postman - during the British rule in India.

Hat's off you you, that's some spectacular walking. You really cover ground, both at work and on your days off.

One of my running chums from the C25K forum suffers from morton's neuroma. It sounds painful and debilitating. I hope you can get it sorted out.
