There’s been some very exciting news from the Great North Run ballot. I’m in! I am absolutely thrilled and can’t quite believe I’ll actually be taking part in what’s been a bit of a dream event for me for literally years. When I found out, I was full of so much happy energy that I thought I should go out and batter myself with a super speedy speed run. Unfortunately (fortunately?!), I’ve got a cold and had already decided running today was not a sensible plan. A head clearing walk instead.
I decided to do a different route round the village, past the hairdressers (compulsory to way), past the little primary school and over a stile on to a field. Once again, it’s peak dog walking time and there are a few off the lead. One comes bounding up to me and luckily carries on straight past rather that stopping to greet me with muddy paws on clean jeans! I should have put my trail shoes on-my grip is struggling. Not wanting an injury on this ballot beating day, I decide to cut short and have a wander around the grounds of the local church instead. It’s an imposing building. You don’t really get the scale from a distance but standing right next to it, looking straight up, you can’t fail to be impressed at the height of the tower. A quick walk through some trees, over a little bridge and the walk ends with my favourite treat. Coffee from the shop.
A good day!
