Hi there. I am a 47 year old with joint problems but I still need toI need to lose about 4 stone, Active 10 seemed like an achievable goal to get me moving without too much strain on my joints. I have been doing the Active 10 for a week now. I'm finding it easy to fit it into my life, I'm aiming at 2 x 10 mins a day and I'm enjoying! . I'm an online teacher so I can fit a walk in between classes. My question to the group is that I'm looking to buy a pedometer but I'd like 1 that is waterproof to log my swimming as well. Can anyone recommend a good one, not too pricey?

Hi there and welcome to our friendly little forum. If you want to log your daily steps and swimming you will need an activity monitor rather than a pedometer and unfortunately as soon as you add in swimming they go up in price because to make them totally waterproof and chargeable costs more money.

I think there is a waterprooof Fitbit and garmin do a waterproof activity monitor. Misfit do one that you can log the time swum by changeing over the activity but it dosent count laps. Non of them do wrist based heart rate while you swim. I think only the expensive garmin Fenix has a heart rate strap for swimming.

I use a garmin for hiking, daily steps. Running, Wrist based heart rate and it counts my laps but it wasn’t the cheapest. It is a gps watch.

But before that I had a misfit shine that is totally waterproof and did everything I needed. I could swim I. It and it would count my time it has a good sleep function too.

Thank you so much for your reply. 😀. Really helpful.

I've been looking at the Garmin vivofit. Seems to be a good all rounder, not too pricey. I hope it will help motivate me to keep up with the swimming and active 10. 🤞

Hi gwynedd - welcome to our forum! Lots of us here have joint problems (me included!) so you're among friends! I've been a member for 10 months now and am so much fitter than I was AND 3 stones lighter - so it's really achievable!

That's a great goal to have - and the motivation to carry on is wonderfully strong! I have no doubt whatsoever that, given time, you'll achieve your goal of being an energetic nana!

Welcome. I find a good walk really helps to break the day up and can really refresh you at work. I love fitting in a walk at lunch, it makes my afternoons go much better.
