Hi Lisa - I'm fat burning and getting cardio workouts just now, which might help you? I walk so my heart rate is increased for 5mins 3x daily - it's supposed to be 10mins but I can't manage that yet! According to your age, your optimum heart rate when fat burning should be between 109 and 128. Apparently, you should be able to talk while you're walking, but not sing! I must just reiterate - I'm not a doctor!?! I'm just passing on advice that was given to me!
Thankyou for your advice x
Hi Lisa 132. I think it's really learning both sides of the coin. Good healthy food, and being more active. Both are so important, and are intertwined. I know when I am more fit, I naturally feel like eating better and vice versa. And walking is a great place to start.
Hi Lisa,
I'm finding the Active 10 app enjoyable and a gentle no pressure route into beginning to exercise. I'm more motivated to get out each day knowing I have goals but actually i don't mind if I don't hit them as I still feel a sense of achievement seeing how many minutes I've been active each day.
I've also started meal planning to help with my weight loss so I'm only buying food for those meals leaving less tempting things to snack on! I've also tried finding alterntive snacks for when I'm craving something sweet- peanut butter filled dates are a favourite at the mo. The main thing I have done is upped my water intake though even if all the other good intentions go out the window!
Also I don't beat myself up if I don't get out the house each day for a walk or if I cave and make impulse food choices! Tomorrow is a new day!
You'll find lots of support and inspiration on here!
Runninggirl_84 you're head is so in the right place! I've been feeling down - my joints are just not cooperating at the moment - and your post has reminded me that getting fit and healthy is not a straight road! And I do get frustrated and tend to beat myself up for not being able to do what I want to do - thank you for your post, it is inspirational!
We have to be kind to ourselves. It's hard when we have ideas in our heads but our bodies/circumstances are barriers. I have health anxiety and if I'm having an episode I find it very hard to do the things I want for myself, but I give myself the time I need and get back to it when I'm ready again. Today even though I hit one of my active goals I also indulged in one too many teacakes .... but in that moment it's what I wanted and felt like I needed, I'm not going to beat myself up about it. I know tomorrow I'll make different choices again!
Great philosophy!
Food prep and planning is really important. I haven't had to do it for weight loss, but I was on a very restricted diet a couple of years back to determine some gut related problems. If I was hungry I needed suitable snacks or a meal at the ready, otherwise I'd be so hungry and I'd buy anything, which would throw off all my results. Planning in advance can really set you up for success.
Thankyou so much for your advice I appreciate it x
