There are some very familiar faces here - it feels like home! I love walking, have always explored my surroundings on foot and a year before I started running I integrated more walking into my life (partly on doctor's orders). My doctor suggested going out for a 20 minute walk (over and above what I usually do) 3x a week. Which I dutifully did, getting up earlier to find the time. Fast forward 2 years and I still get up even earlier to either walk or run for 40 mins every working day morning. I have added a walk after work aswell, covering 3.5 km, walking to a train station further down the line. And on Fridays I walk all the way home (about 9 km) which is gorgeous in summer as I go through the Olympiapark in Munich. Even in winter it is a great way to leave work behind and head off into the weekend, although I avoid the park as it's dark. I hate it when I can't walk and it has helped me get fitter. This means I have no problem getting 10,000 steps a day, in fact I average over 11km a day.
And then, of course, long walks at the weekend. There are so many ways of getting active, but walking is one of the easiest and it is easy to integrate into our lives! I'm looking forward to all the ideas and posts on here!
