I did a lovely walk-run-walk (jeffing) this morning. 40minutes total, and as I jeffed in 1/1min intervals, that’s 20min walking and 20 min running.
I realised that jeffing this way gives me the great opportunity to train myself to walk for longer. As some of you may have read, I am one of those curious people where running is easier for me than walking.
And I really struggle with walking due to my back, but I really want to be able to walk for much longer pain free.
So my thinking currently is that I will increase my jeffing runs during the summer to 120minutes, keeping to smaller intervals, e.g. 1/1 min or 3/3 min.
This should be doable as I am used to running 60 minutes, so adding 60 minutes of walking in-between should be easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy, right?
We’ll see how that goes. 😉
But also this morning, I was reminded how beautiful my route looked on the map! Those little trees are just so cute and beckon you to explore, aren’t they?
Happy map walking and running!

I love your little virtual running lady. She does look a bit like she's being persued by a large dangerous animal mind, which I hope was not the case 😂😂😂
Wow , that sounds good. I have tried the Couch to 5K several times & given up after week 5 due to hip & leg pain (scar tissue from a broken femur & two operations) .
we’ll done for getting to week 5! Jeffing might be something familiar then. It’s like doing the first weeks of the Couch to 5k programme, but instead of extending the intervals, you keep the intervals and just extend the duration of the whole run.
Many runners report they don’t feel as exhausted after a longer run, but still get all the fitness benefits.
And many runners even report that their runs end up faster overall when they jeff, compared to continual running. It seems the walking breaks allow you to run faster, so this method can even be used to improve your overall 5k time (for those hunting after personal bests)
For me, however, I think it will give me the ability to train my body to feel more comfortable walking longer periods.
