I’m 47 with a family history of some form of arthritis, I found out a couple of years ago after dropping a motorcycle and falling on my knee during a lesson I’ve brought on osteoarthritis early. Life got in the way of building my muscles up around that area. On average I do 6-8k steps in a day doing chores and cleaning etc but yesterday I did just under 18k. Did a total of 1 1/2 walk then my usual steps. Today is a rest day. I had trouble sleeping last night as my knee was giving me abit of grief but I don’t feel any pain this morning although my right ankle muscles twinges a little. I do wear a support strap on my knee if I know I’m going to be doing more than what I usually do. No aches or pain per se…… is this normal?? I was expecting something.

is this normal?? Lol

I have no idea if it’s normal, and you might be best asking a physio or professional.
But can I just say how awesome 18k is. And daily 6-8k is also amazing!
Well done! You deserves some rest and recovery days, I think!
I’ve changed my target down to 11k and so far I’ve reached it everyday. And just checked my weight etc and I’ve lost 9lb in 2 1/2 weeks! My knee starting to feel better well more manageable
Hey,
Good idea to do 11K steps and if it's comfortable just maintain that level for say a month. Do not do anything that incurs pain either during or after.
Now then, once you've stabilised, consider for two days of the week to increase your steps slightly more by 1 to 2K and then after a few weeks add another day of the increased steps. Or, monitor your active 10 steps and keep doing 11K but a greater % brisk steps in that day. Make sure though that you are kind to your body and listen to it.
Oh and by the way... IF, you keep doing 11K steps a day the after 3 months you will have walked 1,000,000 steps. That's an amazing achievement I'm sure you'll agree.

P.S. Which bike was it that you dropped?
