A walk and at last I found a lake

I have an L for my alphabet but I've been getting frustrated in that I am right on the Norfolk broads and when I moved here I imagined walks and runs alongside the water and a bit of bird watching... .but even when I've been well enough I just couldn't find them!!!! I see them from the car but can't find where to park and walk. There is a place called Lound lakes.... So the satnav took me along leafy lanes and said I was there, a nice nature reserve but no lakes, I walked along, found some sweet chestnuts, and after a while met a couple coming the other way with 2 dogs, so I asked them, and they gave me directions, I wasn't far off, so after my walk I drove to where they said and found the car park, and the lakes, although you can see them you don't walk near the edge.

Anyway, walk 2 took me in a loop and back to the car park.

The couple had also given me directions for a walk from Burgh Castle to Great Yarmouth, so I might try part of that, alongside the Broads 😁.

What I liked about today's walk was leafy lanes, lots of trees, it reminds me of home, and makes me feel more at home here too.

On the way home I realised I haven't seen the sea for 2 days so went for a quick walk along the top, interesting there were fishermen all the way along the beach, I wondered if it was a competition.

Today my letter is K, in Sussex we called those gates kissing gates and we always went one through, turn and kiss before the other came through.

Anyway, enough, happy walking challengers 😁 and feet up if you are resting xx

🍏 Kissing Gates!! Haven’t seen one since we left the Fens. A lovely tradition! So pleased you found the lakes. The call of the sea is strong isn’t it? I feel bereft when I haven’t been down there for 24hrs 🤣

That's how I felt but I'd been out ages so didn't stay long and didn't go down to the same, I'll do that another day when I haven't already walked

Yes, I can’t be away from the sea for too long - always lived near the sea 😊

Sounds like great exploring, it can be hard to get right next to the broads but there are some great walks where there is a tow path x

It's fun exploring and does give me more options, apparently I can go from Burgh Castle to Gt Yarmouth, the very nice couple yesterday did tell me where to start and how to get there but it might take a while for me to find

More fun than the squeezer stiles we have round here!

What's a squeezer stile?

A gap in a dry stone wall with two tall stones positioned so that a sheep can't get through.

They sound like hard work to get through, thanks for the explanation 😁

I must start kissing at the kissing gates! We have them up here but never exploited that opportunity…. ☺️😘 … so must change that.

Looks like a great place to walk, and the lake is a big plus! Exciting exploring a new area! (Makes me want to move, as well)
