Depression and thyroid

I am new here. Have had depression most of my life - take venlafaxine. Just heard on Channel 5 this can be caused by thyroid problems, of which I have a lot of symptoms (low thyroid.) No follow up on the website unfortunately. Have had T3 T4 & TSH tested; normal. But the hospital ignored the request for low T3; My doctors cannot request it; (cost too high?). I got the request by paying for private doctor. He was excedingly rude but did order the test and the hospital never did it. Am I wasting my time? Could it be hashimoto's? I have severe tiredness, sleeping up to 20 hours a day. Pains in my neck and some swelling.
