I have been suffering from extreme facial and neck sweating for the past 2 years. It always starts in the morning at around 8 or 9 am and will last approximately 15 - 30 minutes. I have to either have my air conditioner on at all times during the summer months and even during spring and fall as well. In the wintertime, I always have a fan going in my bedroom. It has affected all aspects of my daily life such as work (not presently employed), social events, isolation in my apartment where I will spend 90% of my day in my bedroom with the door closed. My boyfriend and I cannot do anymore activities together such as going to the beach or outings. My quality of life has become very negative. I am depressed and now I turn to food. I am 51 years old, and gained approximately 50 - 70 pounds in the last 2 years. Can someone please give me some suggestions, thank you.

Ginettem,

Ask your GP to do a thyroid function test and to check whether you are experiencing peri-menopause or menopause. Either can cause excessive sweating.

Agree with Clutter, ask GP for estrogen level check - what you are describing sounds very much like menopause.

Sounds like you are peri menopausal flower, I have been for 4 years now and that's how all mine started, your gp can do a fsh hormone test for you although they are not to be relied upon as your levels could be anywhere regarding as to when you ovulated but can give some idea if they have dropped. Good luck xxxx

Hi,

I haven't had a period for 18 months, my whole body temperature has changed. I used to be freezing all the time & now I'm boiling. I was having hot flushes 3-4 times a day. I went to my doctor after not having my period for about 3 months to be told I have to have not had my period for 12 consecutive months to be officially diagnosed as going through menopause. I am 48 years old. I decided to try HRT but have stopped after 21/2 months as I gained about 5 kilos in that period of time. It also gave me bad headaches but I am a chronic headache sufferer. It did stop the hot flushes so if this is causing you a lot of stress & discomfort maybe HRT is the answer for you. I'm going to try a more natural approach & see if acupuncture can help - I will let you know if I have any success with that. I'm having my first session on Thursday. I'm also going to try Happy Hormones which is a natural approach concentrating on diet, excercise, & herbal treatments (I think) I'm still looking into it. Check out their Facebook page & they are also on instagram @happihormones - I've just been reading comments & posts on the Happy Hormones Private Facebook page & I think it would be great for you to have a look & a read. Lots of questions & answers I'm learning a lot. I might send you a private message as if you're on Facebook I can add you as a member. I hope this helps you, its very confusing with pre, peri & just plain old menopausal! Let's help each other get through this. As far as I know it's an Australian product but I'm sure you'd be able to purchase it.

Best wishes

Cath 💗
